Bob DeMarco [00:00:00]:
Coming up, I'm going to show you the 9-20-25 Gentleman Junkie Giveaway knife. Then we're going to show you three great carry combos. And then lastly, I want to show you 10 new knives that I've gotten in the past week that I really like, plus something extra Special. I'm Bob DeMarco. This is the Knife Junkie Podcast.
Announcer [00:00:25]:
Welcome to the Knife Junkie podcast. Your weekly dose of knife news and information about knives and knife collecting. Here's your host, Bob the knife junkie DeMarco.
Bob DeMarco [00:00:38]:
Welcome back to the show. One of my favorite comments from last week's episode on Grab and Go Zombie Fixed blades comes from Carino 1. He says Jim and Bob, really great episode. Lots of fond memories of carrying the Made in Japan Spydercos. Another subject I discussed on that episode, I like them all, but a personal favorite is the fully serrated Calypso junior. Such an easy knife to carry and man does it cut. As for choosing a zombie slayer, everything presented in this episode was super mean. But my choice of them would be the tops Wild pig Hunter.
Bob DeMarco [00:01:11]:
Slashing and hacking is wasted calories. We have to pierce the brain to stop those jaws from chomping. So a very good point, Carino. Yeah, hacking, hacking and, and slashing. That's, that's like the workout regimen of the post apocalyptic zombie hunter. So, you know, maybe keep some of those slashes around just to stay in shape. Next comment was from 6freak58 and I was talking about the new slabby from K Bar, the full, full tang K Bar. He says K Bar's price point of $250 is wishful thinking.
Bob DeMarco [00:01:44]:
And I'm not sure if it is because you know, there are a lot of real big K Bar fans out there. But I, I'm kind of with him in that. Presumably him. Six Freak. It seems like a huge price jump to go from like around 100 bucks to 250 just to get a full tang. I know they did some contra, like a whole. It's a whole different knife but still it kind of seems a little steep. So I'm sure eventually it'll that price will right size with the market and with the knife junkies out there.
Bob DeMarco [00:02:17]:
All right, guys, thanks for commenting. I really appreciate it. Also, thanks for watching the videos this week. Also the shorts that I've been putting up. As you may know, I was kicked off of Instagram. Stayed off for about a month until I got frustrated with the appeals process and just started a new, a new page. It's Knife Underscore Junkie Underscore podcast. And I've been, I've been posting to that, uh, only a couple so far, but every time I post something to YouTube, I'm going to post it over there or post something over there on Instagram.
Bob DeMarco [00:02:52]:
It's a new habit I'm, I'm putting myself back into because I really fell off the wagon with Instagram for quite a long time and was just using it for finding new knife makers and keeping in touch with friends. So back on Instagram, Knife Underscore Junkie Underscore podcast. Check it out. All right, that said, let's get to a pocket check.
Announcer [00:03:16]:
What's in his pocket? Let's find out. Here's the knife junkie with his pocket check of knives.
Bob DeMarco [00:03:23]:
In my front right pocket I had the super cool brs. That's Blade Runner Systems Evolve. That's one of their lines of knives. Kopesh Khopesh is an ancient Egyptian sword. And this is taking visual cues, design cues from it. But more importantly, this is a gift for my birthday, which was a week ago. He got. This is from Dave of OG Blade Reviews.
Bob DeMarco [00:03:51]:
Every year it seems Dave sends me something really cool on my birthday and I really appreciate it. This one. Wow. I really, really like this one because it's unusual, it's large. That's a four, four and a quarter inch M390 blade. And it's totally fidgety. It's a really great knife to fidget with. Part of that is due to these really unique thumb studs.
Bob DeMarco [00:04:19]:
I ordinarily don't go for anything that isn't a cylinder as a thumb stud, but this works great and it looks cool. Those backward facing arrows really grab the fat of your thumb and make it easy to. To flip or middle finger. Flip this G10 contour, G10 here. Titanium bolsters, steel liners, and it's a liner lock. This thing is so cool. Dave, thank you so much for this. I have used this several times in the short period.
Bob DeMarco [00:04:50]:
I've had it for unexpected things, mostly food. And ordinarily I have something different on me if food needs to be cut. But this has been, this has been doing it over this past week. As a matter of fact, just yesterday I cut a massive hamburger in half for my girls and they shared it without argument. So yep, this is in my front right pocket also. I'm sorry. By the way, a gimped pocket clip on this. I think that should be happening more often.
Bob DeMarco [00:05:22]:
I do like jimping on my pocket clip. Makes it easier to Pull out, especially if it's a deep carry by the by the by. And then here we have some really cool and sort of intricate standoffs. So a beautiful knife. Thank you so much, Dave. I'm going to be showing you some more stuff that Dave sent in a box recently today, later on in the show. All right, next up with the release of the new Rosecraft Blades Congress knife. I've been thinking about Congress knives.
Bob DeMarco [00:05:51]:
So I had my own. The one Congress knife I have is the Great eastern cutlery number 62. And this one is a single layer. So they both of those blades share the same spring. And you have a beautiful pen blade and an amazing wharncliffe here. Thing about Congress knives is they can get very thick. They can get to. I've seen them four springs wide where they have eight blades.
Bob DeMarco [00:06:19]:
So four on one side, four on the other. This is in what's called unicorn ivory. Micarta something. When I first got this, my daughters were much younger. As a matter of fact, I think when I got this, yeah, they were both alive, but they were both younger. And I used to like to tease them that unicorns had to die for this knife and they thought that was horrifying and then I would, would have to tell them I was joking. But anyway, really great thing and something about Congress knives is that the term Congress doesn't come because they're very dignified and, and they, they belong in our, our judicial or our legislative bodies. But the Congress knife it discusses refers, the Congress name refers to the fact that you have all these blades coming together from opposite sides in Congress.
Bob DeMarco [00:07:12]:
So they, they, they come together nicely, they fit together nicely in a relatively small package. And I love this GEC62. Not sure if they've done any since 2020 when that came out, but yeah, great knife. And that was popping around in my pocket in a, in a leather slip. Thirdly in my waistband at the appendix position was my Gunfighter Customs Gunfighter given to me by the guys at Gunfighter Tactical Gunfighter Customs. I'm sure. I'm sorry. At Blade Show, Jared Franklin.
Bob DeMarco [00:07:52]:
And this was also designed by Michael Elliott, who is a patron and a great guy and also a Pikiti Tertia and other types of Kali master specialist. And this is his take. This knife is his take on the clinch pick. But he elongated it and you know, he kept a similar style egg shaped handle to nestle in the palm. But you have all this room to put your thumb on this knife, which I love. If you hold it in a sort of saber Grip like that, you get a longer reach with the blade and you get a nice lock in with the thumb right here. Or you can come up in a more Filipino grip here and, and, and put your thumb on that thumb ramp, that forward thumb ramp. This one is double edged and I just love it.
Bob DeMarco [00:08:44]:
I love carrying this knife. It carries really easy. This smooth egg shaped handle nestles against the extra I have down below and carries comfortably. And if I ever needed a last ditch GTFO knife, that would be the one. All right, last up on me. Another great, great knife and also very double edged and tactical. I had for emotional support. My ESK today was this right here, the Pinkerton blades Razor.
Bob DeMarco [00:09:17]:
Pinkerton knives, Razorback. This one is in Elmax steel and it's got this natural canvas micarta. Really, really sweet, sweet blade as I love to talk about. Dirk Pinkerton isn't just making and designing incredible knives for incredible manufacturers like Kaiser concept, etc. He works hard at the grinder too and is just very talented. Makes incredible knives. Now he is going to be making us a custom knife. It might be this, there might be a different knife.
Bob DeMarco [00:09:54]:
We have to decide on it to give away on Thursday night knives to all comers and it's when we reach 50,000 subscribers. I guess he saw that we had breached 40,000. We're at like 40,000 nearly. 40,800 nearly. And he said, well, when you get another 10,000 subscribers, I'll make you a knife and you can give it away. And I'm really excited for that. And so I need to step up my game. I need to put out more shorts.
Bob DeMarco [00:10:23]:
I need to get my feelers out into the world more so that I get more subscribers. Maybe you could share this video with someone. Maybe they will subscribe and then when they do and we're up to 50,000 subscribers, someone will win a Dirk Pinkerton custom fixed blade knife. We still don't know what it is. I keep feeling like it's going to be a Razorback but something cool and I cannot wait. Everyone should have a Dirk Pinkerton custom knife in their collection as far as I'm concerned. So that's what I had on me today. I had the Gunfighter Customs Gunfighter.
Bob DeMarco [00:10:58]:
I had the Razorback from Dirk Pinkerton knives. I had the beautiful number 62 Congress from Great Eastern Cutlery and the Kopesh from BRS evolve. And there it is. Beautiful knife. Thank you Dave for that. Next up I want to show off the gentleman junkie giveaway knife for September 2025. After I take a sip on this delicious coffee. By the way, the coffee on our website is back up.
Bob DeMarco [00:11:26]:
Jim had to tweak some settings in the, in the. I don't know. He had to tweak some settings that Jim knows how to tweak. And the, the purchasing link for coffee is back online. So if you like coffee like I do, go check that out. But right here is the knife we're going to be giving away. The three Dog knife riot. You know Mike from Northern Knives.
Bob DeMarco [00:11:51]:
He shows up every week to Thursday night knives and contributes conversation. We always have a great time. Plus he's been on the show. He's an awesome stand up dude who's been making custom fixed blade knives for his Northern Knives shops. He's got Northern Knives and three Dog knife is the in, in house custom brand. Well, look at this beautiful sheath before I pull it out. Made by D. Johnston of Alaska.
Bob DeMarco [00:12:22]:
So they're up in Anchorage. This whole thing is made in Alaska. Look at that thing. Absolutely beautiful. Recurve Tonto. Just a, a gorgeous blade. And I look at it and I think, is it tactical or is it outdoorsy? Because Mike does a lot of tontos for the outdoors and you don't see that too much. And I've always wondered why.
Bob DeMarco [00:12:46]:
But when I showed this off on Thursday Night Knives the other night, I believe it was Shane Gables was saying that front portion of the blade right there would be great for skinning small gain and. Well, I believe him. I've never done it, but I, I know he has and I, I believe it. So this is black cerakoted K110. K110 is analogous to D2 blade steel. It's cerakoted and it's got black micarta. Really beautiful. Comes with a birth card or dog tag.
Bob DeMarco [00:13:20]:
Actually dog tag, which comes easily off the knife so as not to scare away the game that you are stalking. And it rides on the belt in scout style. Just a really, really beautiful setup. And I just want to thank Mike for his generosity. He gave me one and now he's giving Gentleman Junkies one. You say what is it? Gentleman Junkie Bob? Well, that is the high tier of support on Patreon. We have three tiers of support. You can go over there and check it out.
Bob DeMarco [00:13:49]:
We have a lot of stuff we offer. Interview extras. Probably one of my favorite parts, the sort of extra conversation that I have with guests who come on the podcast. We get to stuff that we weren't able to get to in the show or maybe stuff that's A little sensitive or whatever, but you get that there. You also get nice notes and people have been taken to, are taking to calling Jim Jimmy notes. I think Carino actually is the guy who called him Jimmy notes on Thursday night. Knives, which I think is cool because everyone is loving knife notes. It's a regular addition to our Patreon feed and it might be a, it might be about a new knife, it might be about a knife type like a bowie or a kukri or what have you.
Bob DeMarco [00:14:39]:
This time it's a, it's more of a meditation. It's a, a meditation on the nature of collecting, especially collecting knives. And I gotta say, it's like Jim spoke with a psychologist to write this. It really goes through all the different, that's what I'm gonna look like in a few years. All the different motivations and psychological sort of pulls of collecting. So go check it out. You can do that by going to the knifejunkie.com Patreon there you can check out what we have to offer you or you can scan the QR code that's about to pop up on the screen. But really go over, check it out, see what you can do.

Announcer [00:16:12]:
You're listening to the Knife Junkie podcast. And now here's the Knife Junkie with the Knife Life News.
Bob DeMarco [00:16:19]:
All right, first up in Knife Life news from Texas, Tejas Tactile knives. They have a skeletonized rock wall. The, the, the Tactile knives. Rock Wall was their first knife. It's still their flagship knife. And well, it all comes out of Tactile Turn the knife company, I mean the pen company, but Tactile, we all know them by now as the knife company has a new skeletonized rock wall. As I just said, so a very interesting looking knife.
Bob DeMarco [00:16:51]:
Here you can see all those Cutouts there. Those cutouts were created by accident, just like onion rings and so many other great things that exist. This was an accidental stroke of genius. So basically they had a bunch of handle scales on the mill. Something happened, they came out wrong and they had to pivot. The co founder Matt Palmore pivoted as the, they like to say in the corporate world and, and made a change and they redesigned the scales with these eight cutouts on both sides. It's making it, they're making a light knife already. Very, very light.
Bob DeMarco [00:17:32]:
So those eight cutouts, they redesigned the blade so that it fit properly within the handle. I'm not sure how that would change, but yeah, they changed the blade a little bit. Full flat ground, gave it a little swedge on top and made it in magnacut 3.4 inches there. And it comes in three different varieties. Stone wash as we see on screen, and then a dark wash and then lastly a beautiful slate blue. These come in at a paltry 2.4 ounces, so go check them out. All made in Texas. Everything made in Texas.
Bob DeMarco [00:18:09]:
A lot of it right in Dallas, right around their shop. I know they have to reach a little bit further afield for certain things like stop pins. I think at least that was, that was back in, back when they first started. Who knows, they might be all in house at some point. I guess it's time for a check in with tactile knives. All right, next up from Boker, this is the Mini Bronco. It's a rugged little Bushcraft knife and a follow up to their Bronco model. And this is a, like a mora as I'm, as I'm contending here, but a bit more premium and a lot more expensive because instead of how, how Boker does it with a little rat tail tang that goes halfway down the handle and, and, and 14C or 12C blade steel.
Bob DeMarco [00:18:59]:
This is three and a half inch drop point blade in 3V. So it's 3V with a Scandi grind. And then it's got a handle of a tpe. And TPE is a sort of rubbery, kind of tacky feeling handle. So for all the sort of Bushcraft activities you're doing out there, it's not going to slip out of the hand easily. You got a nice big belly on that on the palm swell there and a tang that goes all the way through the handle. You can see, you can see it just at the end there on the pommel there. It is a stick tang, but it goes all the way through the handle.
Bob DeMarco [00:19:39]:
Something more don't do. So this is kind of an upscaled version of Amora, at least in my eyes. I'm not even sure if that's who they're trying to compete with because I know it's a much more expensive knife. Kydex Taco style Kydex sheath. And this one is made in Solingen, Germany, their original location. This is to come out on August 30th of 2025. It's a nice looking sheath. Looks pretty low profile.
Bob DeMarco [00:20:06]:
Okay, next up from Civivi the the ever prolific Civivi. They have one called the ND or Modern or Mdrn or Medium Rn. I don't know exactly how you're supposed to pronounce this, but this is a follow up of their super popular Stocken S O K N. So Son. I'm not even sure how you pronounce that one. But both are designed from Kyle Lamb who's a tactile a tactical specialist. I have been following him on Instagram for years and this looks different from what I would expect from him just knowing his love for Wharncliffe's. But you know, we, we can all grow, we can all like a lot of different things.
Bob DeMarco [00:20:52]:
And so this one is like I said, a larger version of the Son. So it has the same sort of tactical handle. You've got that foot shaped pommel that you can rest your thumb on. This also like the last knife has a nice big swell for the fingers there on the handle and those are G10 scales there. The original knife had a different shaped drop point. This is more of a spear point. The original was 2.8 inches. This is 4.12 inches, almost twice the size nitro V blade steel on this.
Bob DeMarco [00:21:32]:
And you have a sort of scandi bevel with a micro bevel for cutting, you know, at the, at the very edge. So scandi s we might say or like an early tops Scandinavian knife. So yeah, I like the handle quite a bit on this. You know, as you can tell from the 001, I go for the handles that really accommodate thumbs in reverse grip. This seems like more of an outdoor knife to me, so I'm not sure what the benefit of that is though it is also a big bird's beak for the pinky. So we'll definitely keep this knife in hand. Pretty cool. I love Civivi.
Bob DeMarco [00:22:10]:
I do love Civivi's fixed blade knives. Be cool to get one of these Saucons or moderns in hand to check out. Kydex sheath. 3.7 ounces and available early fall of 2025. Last up from Buck and famed designers and makers G and G Hawk, Grant and Gavin Hawk, father and son team. Grant has passed away. Sorry. Sorry to hear about that.
Bob DeMarco [00:22:42]:
But he. That was in 2023. We talked about that on the show. Not a new development. August 2025, buck of the month. That's what we're getting at. This knife, the Marksman, which is a very famous buck, came out originally in 2021. I mean, in 2014.
Bob DeMarco [00:23:02]:
It came back as a buck of the month in 2021, and now it's back as another buck of the month. This is called by many the most accessible Grant and Gavin Hawk design for a couple of reasons. First of all, it's the least unusual, I think. And it's also the most easily attainable being made by Buck. It's not a super expensive custom knife. They're, they're famed for, for their, for their movement free, their wiggle free out the front and for other really great and unique designs and great engineering. This one, the real USP of this is that back strap lock. It's a, it's a piece of steel that.
Bob DeMarco [00:23:51]:
It's a metal back strap with a keyhole in it. And that keyhole fits the flipper and then. And then a notch in the blade tang. That's what locks it out. But you'll get the same length, 3.5-inch tungsten coated, in this case, 154cm drop point. So same as the original, but it has a red, white and black sort of melange G10 handle. And that's unusual. They are always done in aluminum.
Bob DeMarco [00:24:23]:
So lots of new things here. Paul Boss Heat treat, of course, taking that 154cm as far as it can possibly go. Beautiful knife. And this is, this is one you should jump on as soon as possible because they go fast. And it's a buck of the month and it's the buck this month. So you got a couple of days, so go for it. Really cool knife from G and G Hawk and Buck. It's the Marksman.
Bob DeMarco [00:24:50]:
All right. Still to come, the state of the collection. And we're gonna look at some 10 new knives that I love, plus something special before we go there. Be sure to join us on Thursday Night Knives. That is how you stand to win a knife almost every week now due to the generosity of my good friend Dave of OG Blade reviews, Mike Wharton of Northern Knives. These guys give this channel a lot in terms of knives and I give them away to you on Thursday Night Knives. You know, I was talking about the Gentleman Junkie Knife Giveaway. That's every third Thursday of the month and that's always something a bit special.
Bob DeMarco [00:25:29]:
The rest of the giveaways are more accessible for all of us, so so do join us Thursday nights at 10:00pm Eastern Standard Time. Another thing I might recommend is checking out our newsletter. It's a great way for us to keep in touch and yeah, just, just keep watching. Oh, and and lastly, I'm sorry, just a reminder. Instagram Knife Underscore Junkie Underscore podcast. It's new. I'm back and can't wait to keep posting. All right, coming up, the state of the Collection adventure delivered your monthly subscription for handpicked outdoor survival, EDC and other cool gear from our expert team of outdoor professionals.
Bob DeMarco [00:26:12]:
The knife junkie.com battlebox okay, so this was inspired by a Carrie I very unusual carry for me this weekend and I'm not exactly sure why I I carried this, but I was inspired. I was moved to and or carried like this and it worked out great. Okay, this is what I carry. Three things. A fixed blade, a Victorinox and a flashlight. I was going out with the wife, with my wife to go for a birthday party to karaoke and to all these things that we don't normally do anymore, bars and that kind of thing. And being the only sober person around, I felt like I had to be security, you know what I mean? And so this is, this was my layout. Now this light is brand new.
Bob DeMarco [00:27:09]:
This was a, a in the box that Dave sent me OG Blade review sent me and I I have to adopt this. This is now mine because it is a really cool flashlight and it's slender and it's, it fits in the pocket like a knife. But it's got something I really love, which is immediate access to the strobe. I think that just freaked out the camera, but immediate access to the strobe light. And ever since talking to Tomas Ellas on this podcast about an experience he had where he basically thwarted a not sure if it was going to be a carjacking or a jumping or whatever, he was being followed and eventually he, he sent them packing by blinding them with a strobe light on his carry flashlight. And that always left an impression on me. I for as much as I talk about and love tactical knives, never want to have to use one in anger. So had this on me and then I had this in my front right pocket right next to this, just sitting down in the bottom of the pocket.
Bob DeMarco [00:28:18]:
This of course, is my agent 001 TKL knives agent 001. This is from the first production run. I'm gonna be showing you the second production run coming up here soon. But when I received my samples of the second production run from Tim, he sent me this beautiful badger claw leather sheath for one of them and I fell in love with this thing immediately. So drop this right in the pocket. The curve of this follows the seam of the jeans or the shape of the jeans pocket internally perfectly fits, nestles right over in the corner of your pocket. I had instant access to this blade right away and I just, I loved it. I could sit down just fine.
Bob DeMarco [00:29:01]:
It wasn't too big or anything like that. So I was really, really. I'm really excited about this and I'm gonna start carrying this knife this way a lot, I might add, just for safety. I might add a discreet carry concepts clip to just to come up and fasten it to the pocket just in case. But I, I feel at this point after carrying it well, twice that way now that it's kind of unneeded. But we shall see. You don't want it just in a moment of stress pulling out the knife and the sheath comes out with it. So I'll.
Bob DeMarco [00:29:38]:
I'll probably put one on there. And then lastly, for practical purposes, I had my Victorinox Cadet with me mainly because I thought I might have to open someone's beer or cut something in terms of food. And I didn't want to pull out the agent001 though as I'm looking at this, that nail neck is pretty gross. So I'm glad I didn't have to cut any food with it. So a great carry combo here. I'm going to keep them all on screen as I talk about them. That Agent 001, the Victorinox Cadet and this night Core EDC 27. What a great light.
Bob DeMarco [00:30:18]:
I'm really excited about it. All right, next up, gotta make this look pretty. Hang on, there we go. Next up, second carry combo which I've been carrying a lot recently. These are all brand new knives too. So you know, I got the Victorian or I got the Spyderco classic police model in the stainless steel handle for fully serrated blade. I've been loving this. It's so thin but not light.
Bob DeMarco [00:30:45]:
It's pretty substantial in pocket but it's nice and thin and lots of other stuff can fit in the pocket with it. So I've been carrying that and oddly enough a fixed blade right next to it. The new Jack Wolf knives JW Collab Collusion, a design collaboration with Jake. I'm sorry, Jacob Ginsburg, who goes by Jake. Jacob creates on Instagram. He just makes beautiful custom fixed blade knives all very usually small and EDC able. He's got an incredible design eye and his skills look super refined from what I can tell from the pictures in terms of the making of the knife. But in this case it's his design run through Ben Belkin's production protocol, we'll call it.
Bob DeMarco [00:31:39]:
And in this beautiful stout slim leather sheath. It goes great in the pocket, especially next to this knife. So it, so I've been double carrying a lot like a fixed blade and a folder in the same pocket. And then just for giggles and grins and just in case on my belt I've had the new with this carry combo. The new to me urban edge from cold steel, the little 2 inch double edged punch dagger really like this knife and I also got that at Willie Knives in Delaware on our, on our recent trip. So that's another great carry combo. No light involved which I should, I should really start carrying a light all the time for I don't really need it that much for utility. I keep a little light on my keys but really for that self defense thing if it comes up, I would much rather blind someone, kick them in the knee and then run away than you know, have to use pull out the knife that I'm carrying.
Bob DeMarco [00:32:45]:
All right, last carry combo. This is again a fixed blade and a folder in the same pocket. This is. I'll start with this. I've been carrying my AMTAC Northman pretty much more than ever before because I got a new sheath. The AMTAC Northman sheath is very cool and it's very useful. It's ambidextrous. It, it drops deep in the pocket though.
Bob DeMarco [00:33:10]:
And to me it, it always felt like I'm going to slice my pants as I, as I pull the blade out. So it also has a Ferro rod which is cool but I, I don't know, I just let it languish and, and then I saw an a a video by Armis knife and tool Michael Grosso and he was talking about how his mini VSK1 sheath fits this knife ambidextrously. So I ran out. I didn't run out, I just ran to the Internet, ran to his site and got that sheath and I've been loving it. And so it has been in the pocket like this. Let me resheath it like this. Set up for reverse grip, reverse grip draw next to this knife. One of My favorites of the recent past, the North Mountain Blades BBMN right next to it, both in the same pocket.
Bob DeMarco [00:34:13]:
Now I have to say the double carry that the fixed and the folder, this only really works for me when I'm wearing jeans, khakis and slanted handle. Slanted pocket handles, slanted pocket pants. I'm sorry, it doesn't really work very well. Lastly, to make this more practical, I've been carrying the DP1 also in one of these beautiful badger claw sheaths just dropped in the pocket. Now in this case it's been in the back pocket or in the left pocket with my phone. But this is the small DP1 from TKL Knives with the handle wrapped by Tom Nugent of Knives by Nuge. I had to put this little leather fob on because this really is a two finger knife and that little leather fob with the knot makes it a four finger knife and it is super practical. Great little knife to bust out if you're in the office and you need to cut something.
Bob DeMarco [00:35:08]:
But you've got a lot of pearl clutchers around you. Oh no, this will, this will not freak anyone out. So a great little knife. And here are three great carry combos. First one, the Agent 001 by TKEL knives with the EDC 27 Nightcore flashlight and a Victorinox Cadet. The second carry combo there is the Jacob Ginsburg Design JW Collaboration Collusion Jack Wolf knives and the Urban Edge by Cold Steel, the Little Punch Dagger and then of course the Police model, Classic Police model. And then the last carry, the BVMN from North Mountain Blades, the decal knives DP1 and the North Mountain Blades. Or the AMTAC Northman in the Armis sheath.
Bob DeMarco [00:36:01]:
Man alive. A lot of names to remember. All right, what are your favorite carry combos? Drop them in the comments, let me know. I love the inspiration I get from you guys and what you carry. All right, before we get on to 10 new knives that I love, plus something extra special, I just want to show off this new design by Jim Touch Grass Touch knives. Now this comes out of a. A conversation we had on Thursday night. Knives that I don't know if it evolved or devolved, but we started calling us knife touchers.
Bob DeMarco [00:36:38]:
I don't remember exactly how that came about, but are you a knife toucher? Because I am. So Jim was inspired to come up with this Touch Grass. Nah, Touch not. So if you go to the knifejunkie.com shop, you can find this apron, that tote bag and that T Shirt and much, much more coffee mugs, this and that, all there. But there are a lot of other great. If touch grass not isn't quite your thing, you can, you can check out all the other cool things that Jim comes up with if you want just the simple legacy design, just the logo. You have to go to page 21 now I believe it is the very last page. And, and move forward from there.
Bob DeMarco [00:37:21]:
Check out all the cool stuff we have. It's. It is awesome. The knife junkie.com. okay, let me get to these 10 new things. Okay. The first, the first thing I'm gonna show you are things. Actually it's two of them.
Bob DeMarco [00:37:36]:
And they are sent to. They were sent to me from Dave of OG Blade Reviews and they are leather saps. Yes, I've been talking about leather saps forever. Since before Blade show this year. I did not. Oddly enough, I did not find any. I found one leather SAP there, didn't float my boat and that was it. I was expecting to find much more, but these are from Boston Leather.
Bob DeMarco [00:38:05]:
By the way, that this is the Midget and this is the Denver. But ASAP is an old school bludgeon or Kosh. I think that's what the, with the Brits call it. But what it is is four thick pieces of leather sewn together with a ball of let. Not a ball, but a lobe of lead at the end and a strap on it. So you. I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna say that differently. A, A retention strap that you get on the handle.
Bob DeMarco [00:38:40]:
And this is for whacking people. Whacking people. However you're gonna do it, wherever you're gonna do it. You can watch a lot of staff videos online. For me, I tend to go back to my Filipino knives training and you know, think of doing this hitting with the edge. It's not just hitting flat. But I gotta tell you, these things pack a serious punch. And I'm not even sure if they're legal in my state.
Bob DeMarco [00:39:08]:
I don't really plan on carrying them. I just plan on loving them and I really dig it. I gotta find if they're legal. If they're not legal, I'm not gonna carry them. I don't need to go upstate on a weapons charge. Mild mannered me. But I really do love saps. I've always wanted one.
Bob DeMarco [00:39:26]:
Or blackjacks, which are similar, but I believe they have a spring internally going from the handle up to the weight up front. So Jim sent me these in that box. I know he, he pays attention you know, I bet he's got a happy wife. He listens and he got, he, he sent me these along. I really appreciate them. I think they're a part of his collection that he just didn't need anymore. And here's the midget, by the way. I guess not politically correctly named anymore, but, but this is a smaller version and way more pocketable.
Bob DeMarco [00:40:02]:
Drop this right in your pocket, pull it out. Whack. Yeah, you just feel it all through your body when you, when you do that. You just can feel it. All right, so that's the first thing. Second thing, this is a knife that was sent to me from the manufacturer and it's a flisa knife. This is the, if you look it up on Amazon, it's the Flissa 12 inch Bowie 12 inch, referring to the overall length. It comes in a pretty cheesy, I, I shouldn't put it that way.
Bob DeMarco [00:40:34]:
It comes in a, a somewhat cheap leather leather sheath, meaning, you know, we can tell when something is beautiful leather or when something is sort of like particle leather. And I think that's what this is. Doesn't matter. It's a $25 knife. And I gotta say, I have put it through some paces. I'm going to be releasing a video that shows a lot of use of this. I did. But, and, and here's why you don't, you know, I don't do many videos like that.
Bob DeMarco [00:41:01]:
And when people send me knives, I rarely like, take them out and pound down them. But this Lissa brand I'm brand new to, and I don't want to just get on and say it's a great looking knife, which I think it is. I have to make sure that before I say it's, it's worth your 25 bucks that it can go the distance. So I took this. This is 7Cr 7 7Cr 18 Mov or something like that. It's a 7Cr steel from China. Took it out back, baton it through some seasoned wood. And then I made carvings, feather sticks.
Bob DeMarco [00:41:40]:
And I started a fire with it. I cut sisle rope with it and I did something else with it. Oh, tip test. Stuck it in a two by six and, and kind of, you can tell when you watch me do that. I was tentative at first and then I started going for it. This tip went the distance. This knife in general went the distance. I, I, I like this knife.
Bob DeMarco [00:42:03]:
I was planning on giving it to my daughter, but I, I'm might just have to buy her one. I really do like this knife. Flissa. You guys know Flissa 90 degree spine through sparks just fine. Thing I appreciate is it feels more 90 degree. I don't think this is by design but closer to the tip back here it feels like slightly more rounded in case your thumb is there. But like I said I think that might just be a function of this particular specimen. Really, really nice knife.
Bob DeMarco [00:42:37]:
The one thing it struggled through was that sisle rope and I believe it's just because it doesn't have a toothy edge. It had a somewhat polished edge. So it still glides through paper even after all that. But it did struggle through that sisle rope which you'll see. So that's the Flissa 12 inch Bowie. I do like this and I would, I would say at this point I can, I can say that it's worth 25. It's worth your 25 bucks. Be a great camp knife or whatever knife.
Bob DeMarco [00:43:11]:
I mean this would be good, good knife to keep by the bed, you know, that kind of thing. But I like it. Listen knives, I'm curious about their other fixed blades. Not so interested in their folders but I'd be interested to see their fixed blade. This was a birthday knife given to me by my brother in law who's an awesome dude, former marine and, and does a lot of interesting stuff these days that he can't tell me about. This is the Pinkerton designed Dirk Pinkerton designed artisan cutlery proponent. This is a hugely famous knife and famous design and one of the best sellers at Artisan and one of Dirk's bestsellers of his designs. And man, it is cool.
Bob DeMarco [00:43:56]:
It is a big knife. I mean this is a big knife. Even though it's much smaller than say a, an XL cold steel. This thing is just a chunker and, and I opened this up in front of a, a group of people and they all ouden odd because I received this at the pool and we had a group of friends around and about 20 people cried out when I opened this up. So I love this thing just for size reference. Oh this one by the way has a D2 blade G10 steel liner lock. It is a tonker. And here is the Mini which I always thought was a bit of a chunker.
Bob DeMarco [00:44:37]:
And I really, I, I think, I think I still like the Mini a little bit better but for sentimental reasons I like, I like that one. But look at how much smaller the Mini is. And yeah, to me it doesn't feel so many but a very sort of futuristic design. It's sort of like a. Sort of like a sax, sort of like a Wharncliffe, sort of like a, you know, yojimbo. So a great future futuristic Viking pocket knife. You will. Nice big clip, awesome knife, beautiful standoffs.
Bob DeMarco [00:45:14]:
I really like this thing and a bit heavy. So next up, same birthday, different night. This comes from a neighborhood friend whose father unfortunately passed away somewhat recently. And he gave me this buck112 which was his father's. And he gave it to me and I'm. I'm super honored to have it. It's got the squared off, squared off handles and the zero nail neck that you'll see in buck 112. Rangers from the 70s, 74 through 80.
Bob DeMarco [00:45:56]:
They, they first came out in 1974 and they had no nail neck. And then a marketing guy said, hey, let's put the nail neck on it. It'll sell like the 110. And it didn't change sales apparently. But the nail nick is now on there forever, as can be seen by this newer generation buck 112 with the rounded handle and all that. So great knife. Really excited to have this one. Now that I've shown it up on all the shows and have made videos about it and stuff, it's time to clean it up because it still has usage gunk on the blade, which is kind of interesting because.
Bob DeMarco [00:46:38]:
And, and it also has gunk on the handle. And I say it's interesting because I. It reminds me of how I got my grandfather's shaver, you know, electric shaver after he passed away. And I remember blowing it and a bunch of his hair came out and I don't know, it was interesting. Just a little bit of legacy stuff there. Anyway, next up vintage was the buck 112. Modern and current and dropping. Well, just dropped on Monday the 25th is the buck range and the Mini range.
Bob DeMarco [00:47:14]:
And I. This was just sent to me from Buck. I'm really impressed with this knife. It's. It's a modern buck and Buck has a lot of modern knives. It's just I haven't indulged in them yet. I'm really happy about this knife. This is the range and this is the Mini range.
Bob DeMarco [00:47:33]:
Now these are. This one is a magnacut blade, 3.4 inches saber grind, really thin blade stock. Great jimping on top by the way. Really thin blade stock comes down to a wickedly sharp edge. Thin behind that edge, anodized aluminum handle with a crossbar lock which works great. At first it was sticking a lot and as I thought it. That has pretty much worked itself out. Sometimes if I really horse it open, you Get a little bit of blade stick but that will, that will eventually wear away.
Bob DeMarco [00:48:11]:
Deep carry pocket clip is mounted on the pommel which I love. I love that style of deep carry clip goes in there without any hassle. No need to make an inset notch that you have to cover up on the other side or leave uncovered on the other side and it goes in there. Extra deep sort of clamshell construction on this one. Liners only where they are needed to accommodate that lock. And then here is the mini range. The mini range is what gave me that nice little wound on my thumb muscle there. This is the first day without putting super glue on it and bandaging it up.
Bob DeMarco [00:48:49]:
It's start. It's pretty, getting pretty healed by the way. Super glue. That's why it was invented. So don't be shy. This is 154cm blade steel. You can see there. Paul Boss heat treat as both have.
Bob DeMarco [00:49:04]:
And then this has a different clip set up. It's loop over deep carry but kind of a thick clip so you feel it a little bit when you stick it in, in in the pants pocket. But at least those are not button screw heads. They are inset screws. Nice glass filled nylon handle and great action on this no lock stick from the start and a light little blade. So this one I'm, I'm still working in it. It doesn't drop shut when you pull them back but it, it does whip in there pretty easy. Two really, really great knives from Buck.
Bob DeMarco [00:49:44]:
I'm really happy, I don't know happy to have these because I've seen a lot of modern bucks that don't quite do it for me but these, these definitely do. I feel like the design discipline here is right on. You can see the anvil on the clip and what do you mean by that Bob? I mean I felt like some of the, I feel like some of the more modern bucks Buck designs are awkward in one way or another. These are not. These are great and I really dig them. All right next up. This was in the box that Dave sent me and this is probably slated for giveaway but I really really like this knife. This is the Kaiser Mercury designed by Alex Berkowitz.
Bob DeMarco [00:50:30]:
A really cool looking straight razor Y type type knife. Obviously takes inspiration from the straight razor. Has a nice thinly hollow ground blade. There's Mr. Berkowitz's maker's mark Mercury. Look at how thin it gets at the blade. See if you can see it at the edge. You can feel that hollow grind.
Bob DeMarco [00:50:56]:
Really really cool knife. Gold anodized aluminum handle here. I think it's aluminum. You know what, I don't quote me on that. Actually it feels more like titanium. It feels like it has the weight of titanium, sort of a faux integral. You can see it's clamshell again, so no backspacer. And.
Bob DeMarco [00:51:17]:
And on the inside it's nicely milled where those two pieces come together. Beautiful knife. S35VN steel here. Nice action. Somewhat thin. It's sort of CEO style in terms of its thinness. This is one that I feel you could definitely wear in the boardroom. Carry in the boardroom.
Bob DeMarco [00:51:40]:
And because it's nice and slender and it's pretty and you could, you could kind of rock it like you rock a CEO style knife. But I gotta say, you also get a touch of menace with the blade shape. Even though it isn't pointy. It looks like Demon Barber of Fleet Street's favorite weapon. Really nice knife. Okay, so that is the Mercury from Kaiser. Next up, sent to me by Apoc Survival is the breeding. What is this? This is the Whisper Goo.
Bob DeMarco [00:52:15]:
Really cool knife designed by Kim Breeden. I believe his name is really, really Japanese in inspiration. It looks like a traditional tanto with that upswept non faceted blade of. This is D2 and you have two layers of G10. A thin maroon layer as a liner basically. And then this really nicely contoured and cut out handle scale on top. Obviously taking its design cues from traditional Japanese knives made in China. Right there.
Bob DeMarco [00:52:55]:
I mentioned that on Thursday night knives. That's the one part I don't like. Not that it's made in China, but that's where they put it. I just don't like that as a spot to put writing at all actually. Be nice to have jimping there seeing as there's no guard. But so very nice action on the thumb studs and on the clothes. Really smooth. And then on this side you've got the loop over deep carry pocket clip.
Bob DeMarco [00:53:23]:
Very cool. And I love this touch that, that Japanese cherry blossom there looks really cool. All right, the next. I got three knives from APOC Survival, all designed, all breed in designs. This next one is a neck knife. I took the chain off. I, I don't think I'm going to use this as a neck knife, but a really cool Japanese inspired utility knife. Again we get that same G10 treatment where you get two layers of G10.
Bob DeMarco [00:53:54]:
This time the top layer is thinner and you get relief cut holes going all the way through. Let's see. Can we see them? Let's See all the way through the handle. There we go right there. Very, very nice. Little sharp, wickedly sharp and pointy utility knife. This would make a great drop in pocket fixed blade. That's probably how I'm going to use this one.
Bob DeMarco [00:54:20]:
I've been taking to drop in knives in the pocket as is evidenced by the DP1 and others. And I think this will make a great, great knife for that purpose. Last up in the breeding group of knives, Breeding design group of knives I got from APOC Survival is this really cool fixie. This is called the Torrent. The Torrent. It comes first of all in this great sheath with this nylon setup. Nylon nylon belt loop that can come on or off the knife if you want to mount this somewhere and or use different style clips. You're totally set up for that with the four slots and the six grommets all spaced for Tek Lok.
Bob DeMarco [00:55:06]:
But here is the blade again, Japanese inspired, beautiful. Sort of almost looks like a drop. Looks like there's a little bit of a drop in the point or to the point right there. But traditional style tanto blade, D2 blade steel. Again, made in China right there. Again that's okay. But a really nice handle. It's again like the Whisper folder.
Bob DeMarco [00:55:33]:
It's contoured and it's double layered. So you got the beautiful maroon and then the black with the cutouts. This one, like the neck knife also has the cutouts all the way through the blade or all the way through the handle. Really nice in hand and I like this. I'm a sucker for the forward thumb ramp, the forward back facing thumb ramp. So this one has a thumb ramp here and then a little area to put your thumb here and pull back against that peak there. Apoc Survival has been doing some really, really cool stuff. They are a company of past Iberia.
Bob DeMarco [00:56:10]:
We had a conversation with Patrick Shipley of APOC on this show. It was great. He's a cool dude and has great ideas and they're doing great collaboration. Knives with the demos or with Andrew Demco, with Mike Wallace, with Mr. Breeden here and others. And they're doing some really cool, unique stuff all meant for, you know, when the crap hits the fan type scenarios, but also in recognition of the fact that that doesn't happen every day are also very practical, practical knives. So APO Survival loving their knives and I'm really psyched about this latest group of knives they sent out. All right, penultimate in this list.
Bob DeMarco [00:57:02]:
Another sip of coffee here. Give me the strength to carry on. This was also in the box from Dave. Wow. How cool is this? This is the Rosecraft blades Clinch river mt. Now I'm not a huge fan of Rosecraft's modern knives but I am a huge fan of their traditional slip joint knives. And this started out life as a traditional slip joint kind of swayback that they do the clinch river and they dressed it up. This is M390 blade steel.
Bob DeMarco [00:57:38]:
It's a very thin, beautifully machine satin wharncliffe blade with a nice big finger choil and of course titanium bolsters and a button lock. Now this is. This button lock is much like the Civivi elementum button lock in that you. Sorry, that thumb you need to press in the button. Oh my gosh, I'm making a mess of it. You need to press in the button to get this to open up and then obviously press in the button to relock it. I'm going to do this here for a sec. So that's how it works.
Bob DeMarco [00:58:21]:
And man, it is so beautiful. I love the look of that hunter green. It's like an OD green hunter green micarta. It's like a, it's like an. It's like an olive drab but with a little bit more blue in it. So you know, is it for an army vehicle or is it for a Range Rover? I don't know. You decide. But it's a beautiful color.
Bob DeMarco [00:58:43]:
This knife feels great in hand and it's just a. It's just a really cool knife. So I think probably slated for giveaway. I have to be careful about what I adopt these days because I have too much and so much of it I don't carry. But I'm really impressed by that swedge. The Swedish is just so nummy. And also this would make a great self defense knife if it's open. I don't know.
Bob DeMarco [00:59:14]:
As you can see, I've been having trouble opening it. But that's just user error. But I mean this thing in reverse pacal style grip like this just feels great. Melts right in. So kind of a gentleman's knife that can transition into something else if need be. Again, a good one for the boardroom. All right, last up and this is the very special thing. This is the new agent 001 from Tkal Knives.
Bob DeMarco [00:59:44]:
I have it in four different handle materials. Let me show them to you. This just arrived yesterday as I record this and here they are. They are stunningly beautiful. So and I will compare them to the old, old model or the original production run model. Yeah, here they are together. So the new ones are now and many of them Tekel knives. Knives are being made by Nick Chuprin's company, NCC Knives up in New Hampshire.
Bob DeMarco [01:00:25]:
And this man is a serious perfectionist and a serious machinist. Look how beautiful that is. Look at the, look at the chamfering on the jimping. Look at the, at the milling lines on the bevels. It is just gorgeous. I am so excited. I am not sure when these are dropping. This is a decision that I will only.
Bob DeMarco [01:00:52]:
Okay. But it's not, definitely not up to me, or I should say only announce it is not up to me. Obviously I'm not making them. TKL knives is not my company. This is just my design. But man, am I thrilled with how these have come out. They are just beautiful. Inspired originally by the Love Loveless sub hilt fighter in that sort of long, slender, clippish point, double edged blade made in the usa.
Bob DeMarco [01:01:20]:
Here, there's my maker's mark. And this is. What does that say? Oh, this is Nitro V. That's what that is. Nitro V with a little American flag next to it. You got Nitro V. And this is that G10 burl handle. They have 27 different G10 slash micarta.
Bob DeMarco [01:01:42]:
And then this whole new battle lock, which I'll show you in a second, this is obviously layered G10 blue and black and also nitro V. How gorgeous that is, man. And I'm not, I'm not saying it's gorgeous and complementing my design. I'm saying it's gorgeous and complimenting Tim and Nick's ability to make knives. These are just so beautiful. Again, nitro V. Now this is that glass filled nylon battle Battle lock handle. So this area right here that's not smooth is really, it's got that skateboard texture, skateboard tape texture.
Bob DeMarco [01:02:24]:
And it does truly lock in the hand. I have to be a thousand percent honest. When I first heard about this handle, about these handles, I was like, I don't like GFN. I'd much prefer Micarta or, or G10. And in a sense that is true. But man, if you really need this knife for usage like, and you're not just a collector like myself, these battle lock handles are amazing. They are so grippy. They are so grippy and nice.
Bob DeMarco [01:02:54]:
So there it is. And this will become, this will be available when it's available, which is very soon as I record this. So probably very, very early September or late August 2025. They all ship with a Kydex sheath like this. With the cool horizontal mount, these things work great. But also you can get it with the badger claw sheath, a little extra. And then I gotta show you this before I sign off. They all come in a.
Bob DeMarco [01:03:25]:
In one of these zipper cases. Like, I think all Tkel knives now come in these really great zipper cases. And. But this is how this one arrived. He sent. They sent me a. One of these newer Ulti clips, which I gotta check out. It's like a wireless in the waistband clip.
Bob DeMarco [01:03:45]:
And look at all the band aids. Look at all the don't be dumb or be less dumb band aids I got. And that's because Vinnie in their shop says Bob, a few extras of these to help with future mishaps. Because Vinnie. Thank you, Vinnie. I appreciate it. He's been a friend of the channel, watching the channel for a long time. And Vinnie of the TKL knives team has seen me cut myself many times on camera.
Bob DeMarco [01:04:10]:
But most especially in the last couple of weeks, it's happened twice. And. And the one time all I had close to me was a paper towel. I had no band aids. So Vinnie's hooking me up with the, with the Tekal band aids. I really appreciate it. But again, keep your eyes out for the release of the new Tekel Knives Agent Double01, designed by yours truly and Tim in a true creative collaboration. So proud of this design and this knife and so proud to be associated with.
Bob DeMarco [01:04:43]:
With and a friend of Tim Kell. So really go check them out. They are sweet. Look at that. So beautiful. All right. For Jim working his magic behind the switcher, I'm Bob DeMarco saying until next time, please don't take dull for an answer.
