Custom Knife Maker Jim Burke – The Knife Junkie Podcast Episode 284

Custom knife maker Jim Burke joins Bob “The Knife Junkie” DeMarco on episode 284 of The Knife Junkie Podcast. Find show notes and links for this episode at https://theknifejunkie.com/284.

Jim Burke Custom KnivesBurke made his first knife when he was 15 and has made knives on and off as his interest in cutlery grew. In 1994 he became a law enforcement officer when he discovered anew the value of a tough folding knife.

Burke’s first folder — the Number One Utility Folder liner lock — was prototyped with his father, seeking a balance of combat and utility. He ended up making the Number One Utility Folder for fellow officers and friends for the cost of materials.

Being both a law enforcement officer and a hunter allowed Burke to use his knives in almost every circumstance and in many different environments around the world.

Burke Knives makes cutlery for military and high-end collectors alike, from the ultra-robust to the super-fine. In addition to combat and collector knives, Burke makes a slip joint called the Rebel and M.A.P. Pen (Multiple Application Pen). Burke Knives also has a production folder called the Hitman in collaboration with Boker Knives.
