Mrs. Knife Junkie’s Folders: The Knife Junkie Podcast (Episode 640)

Join Bob DeMarco for Episode 640 of The Knife Junkie Podcast as he welcomes a very special guest: Mrs. Knife Junkie herself. This episode offers a rare look at folder choices from someone who carries knives for practical purposes rather than collecting them. Her honest perspective on what works and what does not is invaluable to anyone looking to buy or carry folders.

Pocket Check

Bob shares his daily carry lineup featuring the Manganas Steel Aurelia, a beautiful folder with titanium scales produced by Reate Knives. This knife impressed even Bob Terzuola when examined at close range. The Victorinox Compact serves as his most carried Swiss Army knife, featuring a handy screwdriver for glasses. The TKell Agent Nautilus represents a design evolution from the Night Stalker, while the Cold Steel Recon 1 XL in XHP provides emotional support knife duties.

November Giveaway

The TKell Knives Agent 001 takes center stage as the November 2025 Gentleman Junkie giveaway. This knife, designed by Bob in collaboration with Tim Kell, now features machining by Nick Chuprin of NCC Knives. The midnight blue handled double-edged knife showcases refined chamfering and terraced bevels. The drawing is on the November 20 edition of Thursday Night Knives for patrons only. Knife Life News

Les George designed a new forged knife for KA-BAR. Civivi released a Nessmuk-inspired folder with distinctive styling. CRKT transformed the Xolotl into an OTF for the Forged by War series. Sencut dropped another clip point design that continues their budget-friendly quality.

The First Tool

Bob discusses Handle Stories: The Art of the Grip, an article examining how handle design affects knife use and comfort.

State of the Collection

Two custom fixed blades make appearances: the Gunfighter Customs Gunfighter and a Pinkerton chef knife. Bob announces that Dirk Pinkerton will create a custom knife for a giveaway when the channel reaches 50,000 subscribers.

Mrs. Knife Junkie’s Folders

The main segment features Mrs. Knife Junkie walking through her folder collection:

The Buck Mini Range holds sentimental value as a gift from their early dating days. Despite age and use, it still serves as a purse knife. She notes the lock can be tough to disengage depending on nail length.

The Spyderco Delica with Emerson Wave came as a Christmas gift for quick deployment. However, the wide clip and wave feature caught on everything. While she likes the blade design, practical issues forced her retirement from carry.

Three Kershaw models include the Leak, Atmos, and Volt 2. She appreciates how some Kershaws open faster than others for quick access.

Civivi folders appear multiple times. The Mini Praxis, Elementum, and Primitrox all offer quality at accessible prices. Civivi proves you can find functional knives without spending heavily.

The Sencut Citius brings button lock action to the lineup. As a budget brand under WE Knives, Sencut shows how good affordable options have become.

The Guardian Tactical GTX-025 steps up in quality with premium materials and superior action.

The Bastinelli Creations Diagnostic earns the title of running knife. This fixed blade stays in her right hand on every run. The handle provides grip during tough moments, while the Kydex sheath doubles as an impact tool. The B2 steel shows patina from use. She will not run without this blade.

Mrs. Knife Junkie brings practical concerns to the discussion that matter for real carry. Width, clip design, deployment method, and how knives interact with clothing or bags all determine whether a folder gets used or stored. Her honest assessment of what works provides more value than marketing claims ever could.

Bob DeMarco [00:00:00]:
Coming up, the gentleman Junkie giveaway knife for November 2025 in the state of the collection, two beautiful custom fixed blade knives that aren't mine. And then I'm joined by a beautiful and brilliant guest in a segment I'm calling Mrs. Knife Junkies folders. I'm Bob DeMarco, this is the Knife Junkie Podcast.

Announcer [00:00:22]:
Welcome to the Knife Junkie Podcast, your weekly dose of knife news and information about knives and knife collecting. Here's your host, Bob the knife junkie DeMarco.

Bob DeMarco [00:00:35]:
Welcome back to the show. One of my favorite comments from this past week was from my good buddy Dave of OG Blade Reviews, talking about Paolo Rubio. He says, as an instructor myself for decades in a number of martial arts disciplines, I really like where Paolo is coming from and his straightforward honesty and self imposed hesitation and calling himself an instructor. Obviously he has waited and earned that privilege and I consider his students to be very fortunate to be guided by him. God bless. Well, Dave, thank you for that. And yeah, Paulo Rubio is amazing. And I feel like I've watched a long chunk of his development because when he first started he was just a cameraman and now he is a guru teaching other people the Filipino martial arts.

Bob DeMarco [00:01:22]:
And if you've ever seen Dave's channel, which I'm sure you have, you know that OG is really an og. He is an amazing martial artist as well as great collector and photographer. All right, that said, let's get to a pocket check.

Announcer [00:01:39]:
What's in his pocket? Let's find out. Here's the Knife Junkie with his pocket.

Bob DeMarco [00:01:45]:
Check of knives in my front right pocket today. One of my favorites from this past year, the Aelia from Manganes Steel. Sharif Manganis is a great designer and a great guy. I just love him. But his knives are so sweet. And this one, I think it's chief among them. I think it's one of the most beautiful folders I've ever seen. And I, I put it on the same shelf with a Chris Reeve Sebenza and a spartan Harsey folder.

Bob DeMarco [00:02:16]:
It's just a beautiful design. I carried this today because I had to look good in front of my new boss. We were having a big old meeting today and we were all kind of dressed a little bit nicer, so I put this in my pocket. It's got the beautiful titanium contoured scales, nice and rounded and it's got that Terzuola style clip, a beautiful run of jimping on that Magnacut blade. And this one is produced by Reate Knives. So you know what that means, and if you don't, they are the superlative knife makers in China. Just the absolute best. Matter of fact, speaking of Bob Terzuola, I went out to brunch, or actually it was more of a dinner with him and his wife Sue's after Blade show this past year.

Bob DeMarco [00:03:04]:
Showed him this knife. He examined it and was truly impressed and he is not an easy man to impress. So had this on me today, did a little bit of cutting, mostly food. Next up in my left pocket my glasses were loose. That means I had the Victorinox compact on me. This is my favorite and most carried Victorinox knife. It is a mere two layer knife here with all the main tool sets here. It's got the large scissors, got the large blade.

Bob DeMarco [00:03:38]:
The reason I carry this most often is because it's got that little screwdriver that fits in the corkscrew and that is great for my glasses. Like all the Victorinox knives I carry on a regular basis, I have a pocket dangler on it. Otherwise it rides north to or east to west in the pocket and that drives me absolutely nuts. Next up in my pocket I had the tkal knives Nautilus. But alas I left it locked up in my desk at work. But I will show you this because this is what the Nautilus comes from. This is the Night Stalker, the knife that made Tekel knives. And one day accidentally he knocked off the finger ring and discovered what a great little knife this is without the fingering.

Bob DeMarco [00:04:27]:
So the Nautilus is the Night Stalker without the fingering and an extended thumb ramp here so you can push your thumb a little bit forward to make more use of that three finger grip. So essentially this is what I had on my belt today, minus the ring. Such a great knife. I love the Nautilus. That's a brand new. It's brand new for them and it's kind of in the piranha size. If you know that knife, it's about that size. Last up, my emotional support knife today was the cold steel Recon one xl.

Bob DeMarco [00:05:03]:
This in xhp. This is the end of the original run of these large recon ones and XHP. So this was about 2019 in terms of production. If you love this knife and you've offered to buy it from me, like many have over the over the years they have re released this in the XHP steel. So you can now go to cold steel knives and order this. Get this for yourself. They did not regrettably come out with the Tanto version of it, but maybe Maybe they'll gauge the popularity of this and come out with that. So this is what I have in my pocket today.

Bob DeMarco [00:05:41]:
I had the Manganes steel Aurelia. I had the Victorinox compact, the Nautilus by TKL knives. Brand new knife. You have to go check that out. They have some very cool special editions of that knife, by the way. And then my ESK today was the cold steel recon one clip point exit. All right, next up, I want to show off the nice that we're going to be giving away to one lucky Gentleman Junkie on November 20th, I believe the third Thursday of November we do the gentleman junkie giveaway. Not giveaways for the our special patrons and members of the channel here on the third Thursdays of the month.

Bob DeMarco [00:06:24]:
So the gentleman junkie this month is getting none other than the TKL knives. Agent001. My design with Tim Kell, the one that launched the whole agent series, they just dropped November 1st. A brand new run of these now being machined by the great Nick Chuprin of NCC Knives in New Hampshire. You can see how they really have perfected this knife and really refined it. That's what I want to say with all that beautiful chamfering around the edges and the terracing on the, on the bevels, they're absolutely beautiful. This is a double edged knife. If you want to order one for your own, for yourself from Tkal knives, but you do not or cannot have the double edge.

Bob DeMarco [00:07:16]:
You can always order this single edge and they'll take care of that. Best way to do that is go to the knifejunkie.com Tkel and that'll take you right to a special page where you can order any T Kel knife. And all you have to do is put Knife junkie in the, in the checkout, in the coupon code area checkout. And you save 10%. You save 10%, Tim gets a sale and we're all happy. So definitely check that out. But this is the very one with that beautiful midnight blue handle that we'll be giving away on November 2nd. So if you want this knife and you want it for free, become a gentleman junkie.

Bob DeMarco [00:07:53]:
You can do so by joining right here on YouTube. Right down below my finger there's a place to join. Or you can go to Patreon. You go to the knife junkie.com Patreon I'll give you the details and the QR code coming up here shortly. But before we get there, I want to do another little plug for Patreon and talk about some of the stuff that Jim does. Amazing work on our Patreon page. He's got his Makers Monday and I love this feature because you can really learn. Do a deep dive into the maker.

Bob DeMarco [00:08:24]:
Oftentimes they're makers I cannot have as guests on the show because they are no longer with us. Tom Mayo, luckily, still is with us and I'd love to have him on the show. We just haven't quite worked out a time yet. But Tom Mayo, one of the original titanium frame lock folder. What do you want to call him? Luminaries. He isn't. He is a luminary and his work is incredible. He works out of the large island of Hawaii and he is known for his super clean designs and very, very exclusive and difficult to acquire knives.

Bob DeMarco [00:09:00]:
So if you want to learn all about Tom Mayo, you can do so on Patreon at the Makers Monday section. All right, how do you do that? Just go to the knifejunkie.com Patreon or you can scan the QR code on your screen right here. If you sign up for for one year at the beginning, you know, in one fell swoop, you get 12% off. Announcer [00:09:42]:
You're listening to the Knife Junkie podcast. And now here's the Knife Junkie with the Knife Life news.

Bob DeMarco [00:09:48]:
Okay, first up in the Knife Life news, one of my absolute favorite designers and makers out there, Les George, former Marine. He's an EOD specialist. So digging up bombs and landmines and stuff like that. We've known a couple of guys like that making great knives. A lot of Marine Corps members making knives. But Les George is man, he's the king. And he's got a new one out with Hay Bar and it's a tiny little guy.

Bob DeMarco [00:10:15]:
This is one of the few production knives that they produce that are forged. They are one of the only companies, actually the only company I can think of that has production runs of forged knives. And this latest one is called the George Roscoe. So George after less George, of course. Not sure what Roscoe means, but it is a cool little knife. And like the last forged one they came out with, it looks like a tool. Looks kind of like a wrench. This has a mini pistol grip.

Bob DeMarco [00:10:48]:
It's a fixed blade with a 1.8 inch Wharncliffe. Wharncliffe blade that's forged 425HC. 425HC is a 420 steel that we have not heard of for a long time. Buck used to use 425 quite a bit on some of their folders, but this was a long time ago. So here it is back again. I guess it's great to forge. Not too many stainless or semi stainless steels are good to forge. This one has a finger ring and the spine side jimping.

Bob DeMarco [00:11:22]:
So you can either put your finger through that hole or you can put it right on top of the in the swale there on the back for ultimate control. Now this one is 3.2 ounces and that's including the. This is the first time I'm hearing this silicon thermoplastic sheath. So something similar to Kydex. It's a thermoplastic sheath, but it's called Celcon. Looks a little different, looks a little smoother.67 is the MSRP. This little guy, that's the K bar. George Ross.

Bob DeMarco [00:11:57]:
Next up from Civivi. This one's called the Outlaw Muck. Outlaw Muck. This is by Trey Sprinkle, a knife designer and a knife maker. I'm sorry, knife designer and YouTuber knife YouTuber called American Outlaw. Mr. Sprinkle created this beautiful folding ness muck style knife. As a matter of fact, Civivi just reached out to me.

Bob DeMarco [00:12:22]:
They're going to be sending me one of these soon. I'm looking forward to that. The Nessmuk, very famous outdoors knife originally designed by George Washington Sears has seen a lot of replays over the years and redesigns and kind of takes on the design. This is a very interesting modernized version of that. You get 3.47 inches of fully flat ground. 14C 28N blade steel. We all love that steel. With a harpoon Swedes.

Bob DeMarco [00:12:54]:
So you've got a lot of that nessmuk sort of lineage in there. But it definitely looks like a modern semi tactical, semi outdoor folder. It comes with G10 handles and on this particular one that Jim has up on screen, you've got sort of a piano key setup. Half black, half white, ebony and ivory if you will. G10 setup. Beautiful, beautiful knife here they have four different colorways for this reversible deep carry pocket clip. 3.74 ounces. This one is coming soon, so I don't know exactly what that means, but hopefully I will have mine before it drops so I can show you all.

Bob DeMarco [00:13:36]:
And 64 is the MSRP on one. Next up from Forged by War, the line of knives from Columbia River Knife and Tool. All of these knives are designed by former combat veterans who are also interested in designing or making knives. This one is from Michael Rodriguez. Now we've seen two other versions of his knife. It's the Zolotel is what I'm thinking it is. X O L O T L. It's a, it's named after a, a God of the, of the Aztec persuasion.

Bob DeMarco [00:14:17]:
Anyway, this one is the out the front version of the Zolotone. The first one that came out looked like a, it looked a bit like a double quilling Italian stiletto. And then they came out with a fixed blade version of that. And now here we have an out the front automatic version, dual action out the front meaning when you slide that actuator forward the blade comes out. When you pull back on it the blade comes back in. This is only the second out the front from crkt. I believe the tie twist from Brian Ty was the first one that they released this in aluminum which is traditional for this kind of knife. Aluminum handle, three and a half inch double edge Magnacut blade.

Bob DeMarco [00:15:04]:
So you got the premium steel with the Magnacut and you have a double edge. Something we all wanted from the very first version of this one. 3.25 ounces. This one is available now, 325 bucks but made in USA and we know that CRKT has used Hogue knives to build their automatics and other folders that they make in America. So if, if this one indeed is made by Hogue, you know it's going to be an amazing knife. All right, last up is from Sencut. Sencut, you know that's the little brother of Civivi. This one's called the Glen Spa in yet another baffling name from the Sencut Sagigi family.

Bob DeMarco [00:15:49]:
This one is a 3.45-inch clip point blade. I think it's incredibly handsome. I love this knife with a long road jimping on for the thumb and you have that nice fuller running down for thumb or middle finger actuation. That's 9Cr 18Mov steel which they do a great job with. I know a lot of people look down their nose at the CR steels but these are. They do a great job with the heat treat. I've never had a problem with that. This is a thumb stud actuated knife.

Bob DeMarco [00:16:24]:
If you're not going to use the fuller and it's got the ambidextrous bar lock we used to call the axis lock, when Benchmade owned that license. A narrow G10 handle, but it also comes in Micarta, which we're seeing right here, or shred G10, which is pretty cool. Something that Civivi has messed around with a little bit in the recent past. So check that out. This is coming out soon at only 45 bucks. All right, we're going to get to the state of the collection and the first tool. But before we do, I just want to let you know that you can check out our newsletter. Just wanted to drop that.

Bob DeMarco [00:17:04]:
That comes out, I'd say about three times a month. We're not, we're not lambasting you with newsletters, but you get to keep up with us. We get to keep up with you. You get some beautiful pictures. My thoughts. And usings on some sort of knife at the time. And let's face it, if we ever get kicked off of YouTube, it's a great way to keep in touch. So let's do that.

Bob DeMarco [00:17:26]:
So coming up in the First Tool, we're going to talk all about the art of the grip and handle. Bizarre.

Announcer [00:17:33]:
You're listening to the Knife Junkie podcast. knife junkies. Here's some cool knife history with The First Tool

Bob DeMarco [00:17:39]:
The First Tool Handle Stories the Art of the Grip there's an old saying among knife makers. The blade does the work, but the handle wins the heart. A knife's handle isn't just a place to hold on. It's where craftsmanship meets comfort, where material becomes memory. Every choice tells a story of who made it, who carried it, and what it meant to survive. Let's start with stem, one of the oldest handle materials still used. The antler, naturally textured and durable, comes from either deer or elk.

Bob DeMarco [00:18:17]:
In the 1800s, it became a mark of pride on Sheffield folding knives, each one unique, like a fingerprint from the forest. Stagg told the world this is not a factory toy. It's a tool born from nature, shaped by hand. Then came bone. Humble, abundant, and surprisingly elegant. Paddlebone could be dyed and jigged, thus the term for carving grooves and ridges into it, giving each knife a grip and a personality. Case. Boker GEC and other classic brands made bone their signature.

Bob DeMarco [00:18:54]:
When you see honey yellow or crimson dyed bone, it feels like stepping into a time machine that takes you back to your grandfather's workshop and his pocket. In the early 20th century, new materials joined the story. Micarta. Layers of linen or paper soaked in resin, pressed under heat, changed everything. It was tough, stable, didn't crack like natural materials, and extremely Durable soldiers carried it and outdoorsmen trusted it. It was the bridge between traditional and modernity. Still warm to the touch, but born in a laboratory. And then there's G10, a cousin to micarta.

Bob DeMarco [00:19:35]:
Woven fiberglass sealed in epoxy. It's not romantic like stag or bone, but in a downpour on a mountain ridge, that grip could save the day. In the knife world, G10 is the modern workhorse. All function very little fluid, of course. Some makers circle back to wood. The eternal handle, desert ironwood, ebony and walnut. Each has its voice, each has its own story in the grain. A wooden handle connects you to earth itself.

Bob DeMarco [00:20:10]:
To a long line of humans who carved tools and the history that was written in them. Every handle material From Stag, the G10 reflects the hands that hold it. Tradition and technology, art and utility, nature and invention. The blade may cut, but the handle connects. Because in the end, a knife isn't just forged in fire. It's shaped by the hand it grips it. All right, let's go take a look at some of the new knives that have come here at the state of the collection. Want to sell your custom knives online? It's fast, flexible and even includes low cost payment processing to help you keep more of your profits. Start your online knife store today at the knife junkie.com launch and turn your passion into a business right here. This one was sent to me by Jared Franklin and designer Michael Elliott. This is the gunfighter, customs gunfighter. Now you've seen me showing this knife off or a knife just like it for all the months since blade show. But they sent me this to give away to one lucky gentleman junkie in December and I wish that guy were me. Hopefully my dad wins it and he gives it to me.

Bob DeMarco [00:21:43]:
Just kidding. But this thing is absolutely beautiful. Look at the first of all, you've got the double edged blade, this is 80 CRV2. And then you've got this gorgeous antique micarta handle here. It's a butterscotch micarta with got mosaic pins in there. Just positively beautifully made. And I have to say you can gauge the refinement in Jared's work even since the one that I have. And what I mean by that are there are little tiny embellishments on this one that are just breathtaking.

Bob DeMarco [00:22:21]:
Nice and slender is that egg shaped handle. This one is sort of an improvement. Michael Elliott is the designer versus makers Mark. They are, they are partners in gunfighter customs. He is a very well trained martial artist, especially in Kitty Tersha, Collie and other other knife arts. This one was meant to perfect the clinch pick. You know the clinch pick though one of the first bacal knives you probably ever saw. Well, this one gives you a place to put your thumb on the back of the blade without, without resting it on a sharp edge.

Bob DeMarco [00:22:59]:
And it gives you two edges so you've got the downward cut and backward cut and a very small nestling in the hand package. There's no way anyone is going to disarm this knife from you unless you give it up because it nestles completely. Your hand swallows it up completely and yet it's flat enough in the handle that it's not going to twist in the hand. So this is going to be the gentleman junkie giveaway knife for December. Cannot wait to give this thing away because the longer it stays in here the more likely it is to be subsumed into my collection. Of course that's a joke. Here's the sheath. It's really great.

Bob DeMarco [00:23:43]:
I've been carrying this one quite a bit in the waistband right up front. I like it in a. An appendix carry style. So there it is. This is the custom gunfighter by gunfighter customs. You will be seeing this a lot. I'll be showing this off a lot on the midweek supplemental after the November giveaway and I'll be showing this off on Thursday night as well. But thank you so much Jared and Mike, if you're watching, your generosity is, is so greatly appreciated.

Bob DeMarco [00:24:17]:
This next one, I'm sort of the yenta. I'm the, I'm the broker for this one. My sister asked me to find a great custom chef's knife to. She wants to buy to give to a friend of hers who's been very generous over the years cooking her meals and, and you know, being a good friend. And he and she, it's a couple actually love cooking and they love knives and well, I think I finally got it and it's this, this beautiful Dirk Pinkerton made custom chef's knife. It is absolutely beautiful and feels so good in hand and I think a lot of that has to do with the. This area right behind the Ricasso we have a much more gradual curve from the blade to the handle than we normally see. And it fits in the hand perfectly in that sort of pinch grip that we tend to use when using and when using kitchen knives.

Bob DeMarco [00:25:16]:
This one has a 10 inch blade and I believe it's magnacut. Very nice and thin with a very tall grind. Super sharp. I use this one. You know, I had to test it. I'm not just gonna send it along not knowing if it could cut or not. So I used this to cut up some potatoes. This was over the past weekend and it did great.

Bob DeMarco [00:25:39]:
You know, I guess most knives will do great, but this thing just glided through it like it wasn't even there. And then look at this beautiful GL Hansen & Sons G Carta. That's a custom micarta with all these different color materials here. Really, really a beautiful, beautiful handle. Feels great in hand. And this one, someone quipped recently, is like a tactical kitchen knife. I think it was the jimping that made that person say so, but what a beautiful knife. So this goes to my sister in short order.

Bob DeMarco [00:26:14]:
I have to do a close up video of it and then I will send it along to her. But the money is already paid and that money wasn't mine. So I can't hold on to this, this one. But it's got me thinking. A commission is in the offing for a dirk and another one of these gorgeous kitchen knives. All right, we're going to get to a special segment tonight called Mrs. Knife Junkies Folders. But before we do, I want to show you some cool merch that Jim just came up with.

Bob DeMarco [00:26:43]:
I buy knives for self defense. Sure, sure, that's it. So you can get this on a T shirt, a hat and apron. You know, it's still grilling season. Or a mug or anything else you want. We've got so many different things in our merch store. Just go to the knife junkie.com shop. Many pages.

Bob DeMarco [00:27:02]:
I think we're up to 30 pages of merchandise, all with really cool maxims like this. Pithy, pithy maxims. And then if you like the traditional knife junkie logo, you got to go all the way back to the beginning and you can find that there. But I buy knives for self defense. Sure, that's it. All right. So you cannot live in this household, the knife junkie household, without acquiring a knife or tea here or there. My daughters have them.

Bob DeMarco [00:27:32]:
I met my wife learning how to knife fight, so she's always been amenable. But I've really, I've really gotten her into the game. Why don't you come on over here, baby? Let me introduce to you, Mrs. Knife Junkie. Yeah, it's been a, it's been a while.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:27:51]:
Hello, everyone.

Bob DeMarco [00:27:52]:
All right, thank you. Put you in the spot. Okay, so let me get my. All right.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:28:01]:
I liked your history segment. Oh, thank you. That was good too. Although I, I have to disagree with you. I don't think it's still growing season for those aprons.

Bob DeMarco [00:28:12]:
Oh, well, it's griddle season, let's say.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:28:16]:
But hey, people wearing aprons inside, you can cook inside too. I'm all for it. Yeah.

Bob DeMarco [00:28:23]:
All right, well, let's talk about these knives here. We've got a bunch of them here on the knife cam under the knife can, and there are some that you really like, some that you barely carried. But let's talk about them. So this is the first one. This is the buck range.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:28:38]:
This is my favorite knife. It is my, my current edc. I love this knife so much. Main reason it is light. It is so light. I have mentioned to Bob that, you know, I usually have it clipped, you know, in my, usually jeans. My jeans. There have been times when I've forgotten and I've actually folded my jeans and put them away and then looked for my knife and realized that they were still on my jeans.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:29:05]:
They're just that light. Normally you forget to unclip your knife. You know, you feel the weight. This is like nothing. So I love that. I love the size of it. The handle for me is nice. I have smaller hands and I would say probably all of men, and it works for me.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:29:29]:
Sometimes they're too big. This one is just fine. The knife, the blade size for me, I also very much appreciate because it's, for me, it's a utility knife, so it's easy for me to wield. My one complaint about this, and it's just with the folders, I do like the auto flipping the flippers. It just, I like the sound. It just looks cool. It feels cool. Click.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:29:57]:
You know, it's there. And with this, I just, sometimes because my hands are so small, I, I find it difficult to manipulate the, the, the opener. Outside of that, I, I, I have no complaints. I love this mic right now. I've been carrying it for a while. I don't foresee a time when I would will not be carrying that.

Bob DeMarco [00:30:16]:
All right, next, the Kershaw leaf. Yes.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:30:23]:
I love the look of this blade. I like the length. It's a little longer. Maybe it just looks longer just due to how thin it is. I like this knife a lot. It's very sleek. Especially the handle is just so smooth. It fits really nicely in the hand.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:30:43]:
I really appreciated this knife because it was thin. And again, for me to clip onto my Clothing, I don't like to feel it in my hip. The knives, and sometimes when they're too thick, that happens. But this is so nice and thin that it would clip in even with dress pants. When I go to the office, you just want it to be a little more discreet. I'd always keep it the back. It was a little heavy. And that was probably one of the main reasons why I stopped wearing it because it was so nice.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:31:16]:
Again, I would wear it with, with non jeans and not as sturdy and I just felt like it weighed. I love the knife, though. I love how it looks.

Bob DeMarco [00:31:27]:
What do you think of the, the spring assist on the blue? Love it, Love it.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:31:33]:
It was, it was so smooth, like you almost had to, not even, you had to touch it with some, with some force, but it was this beautiful. Just, it just, just, it's so smooth. Yeah, I, I, I love it very much.

Bob DeMarco [00:31:46]:
A little closer to that line.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:31:47]:
Sure thing.

Bob DeMarco [00:31:49]:
Oh, Next up. This was designed by one of my favorite designers, Sinkovich from, I think he's Zela Russian. This is the Kershaw Atmos.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:32:00]:
I wore this knife when we were living in New York quite a bit, Quite a bit. Again, late, Very light. I liked that one. I like the blade. You can tell by its use. You know, I use that for a number of different, different reasons. So how long do I have for, like each of these knives? I like this knife. I like how it opened.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:32:27]:
The only thing I did not like about it is the design. I guess on the, on the handle, it just made it for me. And it's actually coming across so like much nicer on the, on the screen, but just made it look a little cheap for me. I don't know why.

Bob DeMarco [00:32:45]:
A little cheap?

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:32:46]:
Yeah, it's like, like plasticky.

Bob DeMarco [00:32:48]:
We've got a, we've got carbon fiber overlay. So the whole thing is in carbon fiber. That would raise the, the price of it. It's G10, but then they put a little carbon fiber on top of it to make it look fancy. But you think it feels a little cheap.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:33:04]:
It just looked a little, it looked plasticky to me sometimes. Like I said on, on the, on the screen it looks nicer, but yeah, I mean, I liked it. I liked it a lot. I wore it, I wore it. That was my EDC for a long time.

Bob DeMarco [00:33:19]:
Yeah. And, and what do you think of the 8cr 13 mov ski?

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:33:24]:
Oh, I was hoping you'd ask me that. I, I, I, I, I like the, the, the blade. I thought it was very sharp.

Bob DeMarco [00:33:35]:
Fair enough.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:33:36]:
In Terms of like sturdiness. I mean, I, I put that, you know, I banged that. I banged that thing around quite a bit. Never, never had any issues. Felt good in the hand.

Bob DeMarco [00:33:48]:
That's. Well, that's basically what I. Why I was bringing it up because a lot of people like to dis 8cr13 mov. Because it's not, it's not a top notch steel, but for most of what we use our knives for, it's.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:34:03]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, there's. You can tell that I used it, but there was never any issue with bending or anything. It kept it, it's kept its edge.

Bob DeMarco [00:34:14]:
All right, here's one. Here's one that I know you've used a lot. Designed by another great designer, RJ Martin. This is the Kershaw Volt 2.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:34:26]:
The Volt 2. I do like the Volt 2. The opening on that one is also very smooth, very slick. Really satisfying. You know, when you do it, you know, you know the blade is open. You know, it's ready in your hand as soon as you do that. I love the handle on this one too. Very sturdy.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:34:51]:
This, this would be the type of knife that, you know, I'm sure Zombie apocalypse. We'd have a number of different weapons to choose from. That to me, would be sort of in my pocket. I actually. You added the. The bob. Yeah, the fob. Because I wanted to for some reason sometimes in my back pocket with that one.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:35:11]:
Because I would. I would carry it around with me if I was like doing stuff up in the yard or, you know, what have you. Uh, and I would kind of pull it out that way, but it always felt so sturdy and secure. This would be one that if I, I had to fight with, I mean, I'd fight with all of them, but that one just. I don't know, it. It felt really nice to hold.

Bob DeMarco [00:35:31]:
What I like seeing on this is how much gunk and filth and mud.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:35:35]:
Sorry, I just kind of in there. I like that I don't see my knives. You should probably clean all of those.

Bob DeMarco [00:35:41]:
Screws and even on the blade, a nice hollow ground. 8cr13 mov blade. But I like seeing the life and the use in this. I have so many knives, more than maybe, you know, but I have so many knives and most of them don't get any use, let alone, you know, this much use. So I like seeing this.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:36:03]:
Yeah, that. That's an old favorite, that one. Definitely. For sure.

Bob DeMarco [00:36:07]:
Kershaw too. And it feel good in hand too.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:36:12]:
100% beautiful.

Bob DeMarco [00:36:15]:
All right, this next One, the Civivi Mini practice.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:36:19]:
I in particular like the shape of the blade on this one. I believe you gave me this one or you asked me what color. I remember saying green for my eyes. And next thing you know, I had a green handled knife. So this one is a just a fine blade. I like it very much. I do like the, the length of the handle as, as well. Not.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:36:44]:
It's not too big, it's not too small. The only reason I think I didn't sort of wear this more often than I did was just the width, the overall width of the. Of the blade. Just in terms of catching that one. I think there's one of them there where the main reason was the clip. And I know you said you could loosen the clip, but it just wouldn't kind of give me any give to wear. So I was, it was like fighting to kind of get it on. And I was thinking if I fight to get it on, I have to fight to get it off.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:37:19]:
But. But yeah, this one, I like this one.

Bob DeMarco [00:37:22]:
So you've mentioned that you carry in the waistband a lot. Why in the waistband? Tell us about women's pockets.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:37:31]:
Well, women's pockets are. Well, if you're lucky to have pockets. I know with you guys, everything you have is pockets and multiple pockets and pockets on pockets and pockets that you don't even remember what's in the pocket. But women's clothing. And so when they are performing professional pants, the pockets are usually a little lower to kind of like put your hands in. With blue jeans, they're a little higher. And. And for me, I don't necessarily like to show that I'm carrying for a number of different reasons.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:38:06]:
It could be anything from I don't want it to. I don't want to be a telltale sign. I don't want to give anything away. I don't want to be. I don't want it to also catch someone's unwanted attention. That could be something. Oh, look, this girl has a nice, you know, why. No, let's.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:38:23]:
Let's take the knife. Let's mess with her. She might think she thinks she knows something or people just being weirded out by, you know, why are you carrying a knife?

Bob DeMarco [00:38:33]:
Why.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:38:33]:
Why is a knife in here? So I usually do like to kind of keep it in my upper back. Again, I know it's there. I personally like the feel of the hip as well. Like, if I don't have it, I can, I can feel, you know, a little bit of that something feels missing. You know, it's Kind of like when you don't wear your watch, something's kind of off and in the pocket. You don't always, doesn't always happen. Also, women, you know, when I go to the ladies room, pants are kind of kind of coming on and off and in the pockets. I, I felt that they would fall.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:39:07]:
They would fall or they would just.

Bob DeMarco [00:39:09]:
Kind of like.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:39:12]:
I'd have to like readjust, so. But when they're in the, in the back side, it was, it was never a problem. That's probably more than, that's enough here. I'm sorry, I'm just talking from the female perspective. Like, this is stuff that, you know, with my clothes, I don't, I also don't normally wear a belt, so for me, the, you know, the clothing is usually going to be thickest at the waistline and so for me it's just easier. You click.

Bob DeMarco [00:39:42]:
All right, so this is the Civivi Mini Mini practice. And this, by the way, is based on the mate, the large Praxis or the regular Praxis, which is one of the first three Civivi knife designs that ever dropped and it's still super, super popular. And so they came out with this mini version and I love it, I think it's awesome. This next one you didn't even remember you had. This is the elementum.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:40:12]:
It's a shame because it looks nice. I, I, I like it, I like, I like my knives on your screen, on your camera. Yeah.

Bob DeMarco [00:40:21]:
So this one has an ebony wood handle.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:40:25]:
Oh, yeah.

Bob DeMarco [00:40:27]:
I guess I'll be taking this one back.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:40:28]:
I'm sorry.

Bob DeMarco [00:40:31]:
But I, I think you mentioned the width of the handle as a, as a bug.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:40:36]:
Yeah, I mean, take a look at, take a look at that one and take a look at, at like this one especially because that one was, you know, one of the reasons why I liked it was just, Yeah, I mean, big difference. So for, again, for me, it, it does make a difference. Just the size and the bulk and no, I'm five, two and a half, so I just, Everything's.

Bob DeMarco [00:41:00]:
Well, let me, let me tell you why I think you might like carrying this one. It's got a very thin.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:41:07]:
Give it back to me so I can try carrying it.

Bob DeMarco [00:41:10]:
It's got a very thin, hollow ground blade, so it is so sharp and slicy. If you, if you look at it from this aspect. Yeah, it's super thing. So. And this is also one of Civivi's flagship knives. They've made this in so many different versions, it makes your head Spin.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:41:33]:
I like the black on black.

Bob DeMarco [00:41:34]:
Yeah, it's actually dark, but we've always disagreed on colors.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:41:39]:
That's true. We have. We have. We have that weird artist eye.

Bob DeMarco [00:41:44]:
All right, well, not much to say about this. This is the elementum in. This is the traditional elementum with the drop point blade and with the ebony wood scales. Beautiful knife. So they've made this in a fixed blade version, in a tanto version, in so many different locks. And, you know, it's one of those knives they knew they had a good thing, so they make a million different versions. All right, this one. This is the Civivi Primatrox.

Bob DeMarco [00:42:18]:
What are your thoughts on the Perma truck?

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:42:20]:
The Primatrox? I like this one. This, to me, is a knife that. Let's say we were going to go to Hirosa. I would put that in my designer handbag and try to get it in. For me, I find it quite easy to be able to slip knives into spaces sometimes because I had curses. Right. And so we're all dressed up and whatnot. They're going to look at Bob, and I'm going to see what he has.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:42:52]:
And. And so I walk through the metal detector, no problem. My purse is, of course, is going to go off because it has, you know, eyelash curlers and keys and. And what have you. And so usually they just look in, and I always have a little side pocket or whatnot, so I can put my neck draw on there. But if I'm going to be gifted dressed up to go out, this, to me, I thought was just a really beautiful. Nice. I just find it to be very elegant.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:43:15]:
The wood finish on it, I just. I really love it. I love the blade. It's a little bigger than I would like to carry. So again, would. I would have that in my purse if, especially wearing a dress or something going out, still want to have, you know, know, some steel on me. But, yeah, this. This is more of like a going out to a nice place kind of nice.

Bob DeMarco [00:43:40]:
All right, let me ask you this question. This, like most of your knives, has a liner lock. It's this right here. And then this one, your favorite, your favorite knife, right. Has the ambidextrous Barlow.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:43:56]:
Yeah.

Bob DeMarco [00:43:57]:
What do you like better?

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:43:58]:
Oh, 100% the. Yes. The liner lock. I have smaller fingers so that, you know, small hands are, I think, impediment sometimes. But I do think the smaller fingers are very workable with knives. And so I can kind of get in there, except for the thumb with the open still. Yes. Yeah.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:44:24]:
But that Being said, I, I, I don't know, maybe it's because I don't have a lot of experience with the, the box closing system. I really don't. That's, I think the only one that I've ever had. So maybe I just need to practice with it. So that way, you know, I get more comfortable. I always feel like I'm going to cut myself. And so I find myself kind of like enclosing it up while the other ones for me it's just, it's very easy.

Bob DeMarco [00:44:52]:
Well, the funny thing is with the liner lock, your finger is in the path of the blade. But with this, your finger is never in the path of the blade. So we'll get you to practice more. And I was also showing Mrs. Knife Junkie that you can pull this back and just whip it out like that.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:45:18]:
Kind of cool. All right, I will, I will. Look, I will, I will, I will pitch it with it. I will, I will fuss with it.

Bob DeMarco [00:45:24]:
That's your assignment. All right, so this is the Primitrox from Civivi. Only, only when we go to the next up, the sencut cities.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:45:39]:
Love this knife. Love this knife. Look how pretty it is at the blade. I think it looks neat. I, I love it. I think because of the cutout again it, there's just less weight than, than you would expect. It's just so slick. It just looks sleek.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:45:59]:
It looks like a nail almost to me. Like it would be, it would be. This is, I don't know, I'm thinking faster movement. I just love this knife. I find it very light as well or actually not as heavy. I love how it opens. I just, I love this knife.

Bob DeMarco [00:46:19]:
So this one, we also, we have coupon codes for this so you can go to the knife junkie.com send cut and get one of these. Actually this is sadly discontinued but they have a lot of really cool knives.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:46:33]:
I'll have suckers that I got one.

Bob DeMarco [00:46:36]:
This was the, this was the gift I got you. 20, 23 blade show.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:46:42]:
Oh.

Bob DeMarco [00:46:43]:
Figured you'd like it. I figured it would fit in your waistband well, your pockets.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:46:47]:
Well, I like it, I like it. It's. I think that one, in fact I think that was what I was carrying before I got the buck. Any range and so it says something about the buck but, but the send cut is, is, it's a long time favorite.

Bob DeMarco [00:47:08]:
I remember you, you felt you lost this for a while. You found it in a bag.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:47:13]:
Yes, yes. Remember I talked about like, you know, I can kind of get, get away with getting Knives in through bags. And so I put that in one of my little special pockets in my, in my bag and forgot about it. And then it wasn't until we went on a trip, I can't remember where I was going. So I went to pull down the bag and I was like, so it's like better than the 20 in your Jean pocket when you go out. And I was like, oh, I found a knife. Awesome. Way better than, way, way better than 20.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:47:45]:
Yes.

Bob DeMarco [00:47:46]:
All right, so this next one was your 2025 late show gift knife. And this is an exclusive. This is the. Yes, this is the Guardian Tactical GTX025.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:48:03]:
That just amazes me that you know.

Bob DeMarco [00:48:04]:
All this stuff reading.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:48:06]:
No, but still, you know what I mean?

Bob DeMarco [00:48:08]:
But before you talk about it, let me tell you why I bought this for you. Now I thought that this would make it excellent running knife. This is knife junkie likes to go running. And, and I figured this one is nice and light and it's got a glass breaker here.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:48:23]:
I like that.

Bob DeMarco [00:48:23]:
Carry it like this and use it as an impact tool. And then heaven forbid you need a knife. It has a very easy to actuate blade. So what do you think?

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:48:36]:
I like this, this knife is, is, is fun. It's very fun to play with. It's a louder click and you, you, you see feel it in a different way sometimes I feel with the folders you feel it kind of click open and it makes it sturdy and secure. This one just kind of clicks, I don't know, differently. It's, it's, it's not making the, the knife any sturdy. It's coming straight out versus the swinging. Anyway, this one's fun to, fun to play with. It is thicker but I, I, I like it.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:49:07]:
Interestingly enough. I had this with me at a barbecue and I had it, I had to bring it out and use it for, for some reason. And some of the ladies, my cool friend ladies, they're like, oh, let me, let me look at that, let me look at that. And they found it very difficult to open and close opening. Eventually they got it, but the closing was really difficult for their thumbs. And I was surprised. I'm not hearing hanging out with a bagariac ooh. Or anything.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:49:40]:
So I was just surprised that they found it difficult. I do not find it difficult at all.

Bob DeMarco [00:49:44]:
Yeah, this is the easiest out the front I've ever experienced and this makes me want to get my own garden tactical of course in a double edged and maybe a bigger size. But I love this knife. These are made In Pennsylvania too. Soup to nuts.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:50:01]:
Yeah, I think, I think another one with this is again the cutout in, in the blade, you know, helps, helps with the lightness, but you still get that, that little sharp, nasty little bite. You know, this is, you know it's gonna hurt like, you know it's gonna hurt when you hear it. It's like old, like modern day, you know, 50s ganger gangs when you know with their, with their, with their, their pompadours and whatnot. And you get in their way and like, you know, and they got, and opens up like that, you know, kind of like the switchblade but, but like 20, 25. That's what that reminds me of.

Bob DeMarco [00:50:36]:
It actually says on the hollow ground, blade, blade show 20 twizzled five. Number 73 of 120. So they only get 120.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:50:45]:
Look at that. And I got one hot little hands on one. I do, I do like the, the, yeah, the glass paper. I, I, I do, I do like that, that, that's something that you can just a feature that you can use. Excuse me, to, to stun somebody and you know, you can. I, for me, that's something that I can keep in the palm of my hand and I don't necessarily, again, I don't want to escalate by, by bringing out a knife because you know, you know, if someone is looking to, to mess with me, could escalate it quickly. But that is something that if you know, my, my, my spider senses are up and I just don't like the situation. I can just have it in my hand and it's hidden and if someone does happen to either grab you, what have you, they're not going to expect to feel that.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:51:32]:
And it might be enough to kind of startle them and you know, grant some time. So I like, I like that knife and I like that feature on knives. It's like, why not put, you know, something on there? And it doesn't, it doesn't change the design that much. It's just another feature to have.

Bob DeMarco [00:51:50]:
And not for nothing, I like that you can actually put your thumb on it without hurting your thumb. A lot of glass breakers are just painful to have the thumb on.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:52:02]:
So.

Bob DeMarco [00:52:03]:
All right, second to last here, second to last one. This was a Christmas gift a few years ago. A number of you, you know, it before. But I was surprised. Not a guilt trip, but I was surprised that this didn't get more carried. And I got it so that you could wave it out of your pocket using the Emerson Wave.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:52:25]:
Yeah, I've seen you do the wave, you know, open and whatnot. And it's very gunslinger. Not really what I'm going for. I'm going for like undercover assassin. And that's more like this, this knife ended up being a purse knife, and then it stopped being that as well. The, the hook on it would just, you know, I know it's supposed to catch on stuff, but anytime I put it in any sort of clothing, even putting it on in clay, it's just always caught on something. And the, the width of it. This is the, this is like the wide.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:53:08]:
Yes, exactly. That's just so wide. And I found it to be very uncomfortable to carry. Pain in the ass to kind of put on, you know, for, for my needs, just not, it was just too wide. So I like the design though, right? I, I like the design of the, of the blade itself. So I, I liked that. It's small, it's tiny. It's, it's, you know, it's quick.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:53:32]:
I love the little spider on the Spydercos, you know, so I appreciated the blade. Just that, that extra little, little, little bit there. So I started to put it in my purse and I was like, more of like an everyday Chris Carey, like, oh my gosh, accidentally forgot to put a knife on. But I always have a purse, so that was kind of like a backup knife. I just kind of kept it in. But eventually that started the hook started to hook on other things in my purse as well. So that was retired.

Bob DeMarco [00:54:07]:
I would say for this one, it'd be best to put it in a pocket, clip it to an internal pocket in the purse and shove it over to the side of that pocket. And maybe that's probably the safest way to keep it so that it can open up automatically. That's the Spyderco Delica. Okay, now this is the one that you carry. Well, I don't want to say the most, but this one, I'm the most bright grateful that you carry. Talk about this one.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:54:34]:
So this, this, this is my running knife. This is the knife that I carry every, every run that I go out, keep it in my hand when I run. And it's now just part of my gate. It's part of, you know, I, I, I have certain gear I wear, and that absolutely is in my right hand at all times. And it's become something for me to kind of grip onto. And I just am trying real hard to push through something and get through something. So it, it just has such a comfort feel in my hand when I, when I want to distract myself sometimes while I'm running on my, on my slower runs, I will, you know, think a da. A dog comes around the corner.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:55:22]:
And not that I want to hurt a dog, let's say a bear. A bear comes around the corner and I'm fighting for my life, you know, like, what would I do? Like, how would I open it? How would I have it? What would I do in that situation? I also do like the squareness of the, that's Kydex, the sheath. Because that's also something that I can keep, you know, in, in my hand. And if I need to, you know, it, you know, it fits in where I can just hit, hit, hit someone hit an animal that's coming at me, charging at me. At that point, they're close. I would do something different than. Anyway, so. I love this knife.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:56:03]:
I love this knife. I feel secure with it. I appreciate it. It's like, I think you called it my cat's claw. God. I never have to use it, but you can also tell that I've not cleaned it in a long time.

Bob DeMarco [00:56:16]:
That's B2. So it's a semi stainless steel, mostly not stainless at all. And you can see where your sweat has probably come through and has affected the blade. This is the. I had this knife also, and I don't know if you remember this, but I buried it in a flower bed at Universal Studios and someone saw me do it, I guess, and it wasn't there when I came back. Was so furious. Yeah, Thought it could be crumbles.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:56:47]:
I remember that.

Bob DeMarco [00:56:49]:
So we called this Mrs. Knife Junkies folders. But this is not a folder. But it had to be in this because you carry it.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:56:55]:
So I do love it. That, that is my, my cat's claw. I, I, I, I don't feel comfortable ever on a run without it. I, I won't. I'll come back. So it's traveled with me as well when I, you know, when I run places. But yeah, it is, it's part of my friend.

Bob DeMarco [00:57:15]:
Well, thank you, Bella, so much for being on the Knife Jackie podcast.

Mrs. Knife Junkie [00:57:20]:
Thank you for having me.

Bob DeMarco [00:57:21]:
