Bob DeMarco [00:00:00]:
Coming up, a new pen from OffGridKnives. I get really amazing limited edition t cal, and then we're gonna take a look at new and new to me knives. These are recent acquisitions. I'm Bob DeMarco. This is the knife junkie podcast.

Announcer [00:00:17]:
Welcome to the knife junkie podcast, your weekly dose of knife news and information about knives and knife collecting. Here's your host, Bob the knife junkie DeMarco.

Bob DeMarco [00:00:30]:
Welcome back to the show. My favorite comments from this past week, which came from the Northern Knives episode, interview with Mike Horton. And, mister Matonicus, says, show the knives. And, just shortly after that, a a comment came in from Mike of Northern or he responded. He said, hey. Northern Knives talking to Mike. It was funny because you both kept talking about different knives, but I had no frame of reference. Then just as I was typing my comment, you pulled out the severance, a knife, like you could read my comments.

Bob DeMarco [00:01:06]:
Now I'm usually driving with your videos on in the background to listen to, but this time, I was sitting and watching. So basically, what we have here is, your, your yours truly, your your, loyal host, going off at the mouth and talking, talking, talking to Mike and not having him pull out his knives. Northern Knives, the the brand up there, three dog night, might not be familiar to a lot of people, outside of Alaska. So it would have been good for me to have him bring out the knives initially. This is something I've been working on trying to get better at. That is show some more knives earlier on in interviews so people know what we're talking about, and in case they're unfamiliar with the maker. So I will keep working on that, but, thank you for watching, liking, commenting, and, of course, that interview with Mike was awesome. If you're a Thursday night Knives fan, you're familiar with Mike.

Bob DeMarco [00:02:01]:
He comes on and, talks a lot on the, on the show. It's always great to have him. So thank you, mister Matonicus, and of course, thank you, Mike of Northern Knives and all of you watching and listening. Alright. Let's get to a pocket check.

Announcer [00:02:18]:
What's in his pocket? Let's find out. Here's the knife junkie with his pocket check of knives.

Bob DeMarco [00:02:25]:
In my front right pocket, I had the amazing and always amazing, and I see now that it's under the light. It's quite dirty. I had my Chris Reeve knives Sebenza on. I had a special day, the day before recording this. It was Father's Day at my kids' school, and that includes, a mass. I'm Catholic, so it's mass, not service. And, with your child, and then you go and hang out in their classroom for a little while and, have, donuts and coffee and talk to the other dads and stuff. And whenever I have a nice occasion, I I usually pop this one in my pocket.

Bob DeMarco [00:03:04]:
But you can see all the schmutz on the blade. We went out later in the evening, my wife and I, after doing some, some, Home Depot run and that kind of stuff. We're doing some home improvement here. We went to our favorite diner and had dinner. Just the two of us, it was a little impromptu date, and of course I got the steak and eggs. And so what you're seeing on that blade is steak and eggs. I need to clean it. I'm a little embarrassed.

Bob DeMarco [00:03:30]:
But what a great knife. I love the Sebenza 21. I would love to check out the Sebenza 31. I probably don't carry my Chris Reeve knives, frequently enough to warrant my going out and spending $600 on a on a new, Sebenza 31. The 21 will do me just fine, but man, I love this knife. And I feel like a real gentleman when carrying this. Now incidentally, I've been I watched, the old Collateral, the movie with Jamie Foxx and Chris, I'm I'm sorry, and, Tom Cruise from, I don't know, 2015 or something like that. And if you're wondering the knife Tom Cruise is carrying, the classy assassin out on the town in Los Angeles directed by Michael Mann, Well, that indeed is a Chris Reeve Sebenza '21.

Bob DeMarco [00:04:18]:
So it's it's been on my mind a little bit lately. Alright. Next up, in my, pocket, usually it's my front left next to my phone on the dangler, and that's where it was today, was the the Victorinox Compaq. I'm going to open up a couple of these tools here. Let's see. There we go. So in the main tool section here, you've got, the main blade which is great. You've got the scissors which are, man, they are the best.

Bob DeMarco [00:04:49]:
I love the the, the Voronox scissors. And then you have this newish kinda tool. It's a bottle opener and a can opener in one. You can see the little bevel on it. And it's also a screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver. You can get the this angled tip in to open up Phillips screwdrivers, Phillips screws. And then you also have a wire stripper there. On the backside, and this is why I carry this quite a bit, you got the hook and the file, that's great.

Bob DeMarco [00:05:19]:
The file I use for my fingernails sometimes. The hook I've never used for anything. But in the corkscrew, you have a, little tiny screwdriver for your glasses and, the right side temple on my glasses are always getting loose and that just sticks in my cross. So I'll pull that out and tighten it up. So that's what I had, as my slip joint or my, my backup today. I also had this on me. This is my, 1987 brass Zippo. This was, I got this in high school when I was smoking cigarettes.

Bob DeMarco [00:05:55]:
Sorry mom and dad, I actually did for a little while, but it didn't stick. I just liked the Zippos and the cigarette cases. But this is when they were real brass. I got one at Walmart recently that looked brass and it was like coated. It was not actual brass. I'm sure they might, make some that are more expensive that are in the real material, but this thing is awesome and I was like, when did I get this? I looked underneath and it says 1932 to 1987. So it was, I guess, their, fifty fifth anniversary, and, I like that they just put the number 1987 on the bottom. It wasn't like an x and some other symbol I had to sort of interpret and look up.

Bob DeMarco [00:06:39]:
So yeah, I got that in high school. Love that. It's nice and heavy, that brass lighter. The reason I was carrying that, I've been smoking my pipe recently. Going outside in the dark at night, thinking about my life choices and, smoking a little bit of tobacco. It's been quite nice. Alright. Next up, on my belt, right up front in front scout, I had the Nova two, the hog tooth knives, and and Knife Junkie collaboration.

Bob DeMarco [00:07:11]:
Such a beautiful knife. Matt Chase does incredible work. This is based on his the handle from his EDC Tanto, and that's my Kuredashi blade design there. Deep hollow grind on this one fifty four centimeters blade. Slightly more than, four inches. Sitting right at four inches, I guess we could say, depending, the cutting edge is exactly four inches and, this thing is awesome. Now this is the prototype, and the production version of this production, he only made 14 of them for me, but, the production version of this is slightly different, as all production versions are, different from prototypes, but it's always cool to have a, an original prototype version. I love the white ivory micarta there.

Bob DeMarco [00:08:00]:
I mean, g 10. So I have a knife in the works with him, with Matt Chase. He's about to start forging it this week, he said. And, I'm not gonna tell you what it is, but you you if you follow the show very closely, you may you might be able to know, just from inference what that'll be. But I'm very, very excited. I've been saving up for it, and, I think I'm gonna be receiving it at blade show. I might tell them just to send it to me so I don't have to worry about, TSA taking it from my bag. Alright.

Bob DeMarco [00:08:34]:
Last up, in my bag today for emotional support, the Cortada. I love this knife. The, this is the Doug Markaida designed Fox knives made and Russian, Russian knives distributed cortado. It's a, nice sort of small version of the gununting, basically. The gununting is the Southern Philippines, weapon of choice. It's what the special marines carry in The Philippines, and it's got that sort of sickle shaped blade and, very, very effective. It's used even today, and, well, I'm gonna get grizzly for a second. I saw a picture, probably about five or six years ago of a special marine, a special Filipino marine, those are the special forces marines guys down there, who was carrying his gununting and, let's say a, the topmost appendage of a, Abu Sayyaf, terrorist in his hand.

Bob DeMarco [00:09:40]:
It was blurred out, but you knew exactly what he was holding, And, he did the grim job with the gununting. It is, like I said, a sickle shaped blade and, used primarily in Pikiti chertiacalli. But the cool thing about the cortata is that it has the effect of a sickle shaped blade without having a a curved blade. That edge is pretty much straight except for right here, you know, the ricasso. So it makes it easier, for someone with a big wide stone to sharpen. I don't find curved blades hard to sharpen because, I don't use a big wide flat stone to do that. I use something, more rod like or triangular, to do that and it's no problem. But I understand as not everyone has one of those, so I get the, I get the conflict people have with recurves and curved blades.

Bob DeMarco [00:10:36]:
Beautiful handle, this is the tattoo that, Doug Marcaida has on his arm, represents his culture, his warrior culture, and then his children. Very, very cool knife. I love this thing. I lucked out and got it in an auction at the custom, at the Texas Custom Knife Show in 2022. Beautiful knife. What did you have on you today? Let me know. Of course, I was not carrying this. Like I mentioned before, this was in my bag.

Bob DeMarco [00:11:03]:
I oftentimes have ridiculously large emotional support knives. My whole emotional support knives thing, started with flippy, fidgety, small folders and has evolved into giant fixed blade knives that I just want with me all the time. So, what did you have on you for emotional support today? Let me know, drop that in the comment and I'll I'll read it off and let you know on Thursday night knives what most people are caring for emotional support. Alright. Let's get to knife life news, but before we do, I wanna remind you to like, comment, subscribe. Definitely hit the like button. It's easy. It's free.

Announcer [00:12:47]:
You're listening to the Knife Junkie podcast. And now here's the knife junkie with the knife life news.

Bob DeMarco [00:12:53]:
Another important thing to mention about Launchcart, it is an American company, not Canadian like its big competitor. I love you guys up in Canada. Just hate the government. Yeah. Okay. A new batch of knives out from auxiliary manufacturing. We've had Michael Jarvis on the show a few times. He is a good friend of the show, and I love his knives.

Bob DeMarco [00:13:14]:
I have a budding sub collection. I have four of his knives, and I absolutely love them. Usually, when you get a, when you get an auxiliary knives manufacturing drop, it's of a certain ilk like, recently he did his big coffin handle push. He did two of them actually. But he just released a big batch of knives and these will be available, are available at knivesshipfree.com. But this latest drop has a whole variety of stuff from him, including the Carl, a knife that I really wanna get from him. It's, if you're a Walking Dead fan, it's actually called the Carl. But the Carl is, a great it's one of the larger ones that he does.

Bob DeMarco [00:13:56]:
It's a wharncliffe, style, spear point wharncliffe y kinda thing. But he also has a bunch of other knives, of different varieties, different sizes, styles, and applications. A cool thing about auxiliary manufacturing, they are custom knives, meaning they're all handmade. He's a one man shop, and every knife goes through his hand and gets his fit and finish. Sometimes when we say custom, we mean you call him and say, hey, I want pink ray skin under that, under that wrap. It's not custom in that way, it's custom in the way that he holds and finishes and does, makes every one of these knives. So here we have a, a nice cross section of what's being offered. Upper left I have, that's the broad head, his push dagger, a great little neck knife if you if you want it on your neck but it it it works there great.

Bob DeMarco [00:14:50]:
Little get off me kinda dagger. And then to the right of that, you see something from the coffin series, a four knife series. That's really hit been his most popular in the last couple of years. And then, down below you see that Tsume. That's that cool little tsukemaki wrapped. I love it with the green rayskin, by the way. Little pekal style hawkbevel blade. And then down below, that's the coral.

Bob DeMarco [00:15:16]:
I love that thing. That is a cool looking knife, you you must admit. So, if you're interested in getting a handmade knife, custom handmade knife, for, you know, they're not inexpensive, but they're definitely, all you guys who's who buy expensive Bench Maids and stuff like that, you can afford this knife. These knives, go check them out. These are AEDL, G10, micarta, carbon fiber. They're available now on knivesshipfree.com. Go check out what they have, knivesshipfree.com. Michael Jarvis and Auxiliary Manufacturing out of Reno, Nevada.

Bob DeMarco [00:15:56]:
Alright, next up, we have a cool one here in knife lifings that I actually have and I'm gonna be showing off in a minute. This is the CIVIVI six gill. Yes, the six gill. It's another shark named knife designed by Michael Gavic of Gabco Knives. The six gill, shark is a pretty interesting, weird looking shark. Go check it out. It always kinda reminds me of an eel, but much more goofy, let's say. So this is the, follow-up of the recent We epaulette.

Bob DeMarco [00:16:26]:
I don't know if you remember, but I I made a little gaffe on the show saying, oh, Michael Gavic finally designed a knife not named after a shark. And then I was, sort of schooled by a couple of people in the comments who said, actually, there is an epaulette shark. He didn't name it after the, garment feature. He named it after the epaulette shark which is kind of a reef shark off the coast of Australia maybe, can't remember now. But this one, the sixth gill, is a big belly reverse tanto, very, very awesome blade I gotta say. I have it, it's wickedly, stupidly sharp. It's a flat ground blade, 3.4 inches of Nitro V. Of course, it's got caged bearings, which at this point barely, merits mention because all the Civivis, recently, for quite a long time, I can only think of one in the last ten years that doesn't have bearings, has those caged, bearings, very nice and, silky smooth.

Bob DeMarco [00:17:26]:
This is a crossbar lock knife and it has thumb studs. Comes in g 10 micarta and, wood handles. And of course, the wood, Juberta wood handled one comes with a Damascus blade. Very very nice looking knife. This is 3.5 ounces and it's available in early April. As we record this, it's kinda late March, so this will be out, quite quite shortly. Alright, next up is from We Knife. Yes, We and Savivi and Senputt, they've been just pumping them out.

Bob DeMarco [00:18:03]:
Really excited about that. Excellent. Before we move on to that, let me just show you since I have it here. This is the one I'm talking about when I'm talking about the six gill. Look at that thing. Very beautiful. I love the full, belly blade and the reverse tanto. I still grit my teeth when I say reverse tanto, but as with anything, the more you do it, the easier it is to do.

Bob DeMarco [00:18:27]:
Okay. So back to the new We We Knife, knife. This is the We Knife Silox. Again, a very unique and cool name. It is the We knife Silox, coming out, in early April again, early to mid April. This one is a big one. This will have a 3.9 inch spear point blade. And, funny It's not funny, but, We Knife Company does a lot of larger bladed knives.

Bob DeMarco [00:19:01]:
And I really like that. That that really resonates with me. So this one is a 3.9 inch spear point blade. It's got a fuller on it, beautiful fuller and a, a thumb platform. So I say spear point not drop point, because that point is kinda right down the middle. Right midline on the knife. And it's got a drop point naturally, but it's, well, it's more even, let's say. The top portion and the bottom portion are more even.

Bob DeMarco [00:19:34]:
So indeed, it is a spear point. It's got a fuller, nice fuller running along the length of the blade. Now this article mentions, that sometimes it's called a blood groove, but I would say, only mama lukes call it a blood groove at this point. It's not a blood groove, it is a fuller. Blood groove, sort of implies that you you stick it in, something and blood drains out through that groove. Well that's not happening. It's got a thumb platform, not a thumb ramp because it's flat, comes flat off the spine of the handle. It's got nice jimping there.

Bob DeMarco [00:20:09]:
And, it's also got the ceramic bearings and this one has a button lock. And if you know we and Civivi and Sencut, their button locks are a killer. That said, I don't remember a Sencut button lock, but all the Civivi button locks are great. And the Wii button locks. This one has a titanium frame and interesting thing about this, it's got a sort of ladder, latches pattern, milled into the handle and in those voids, those triangular voids, they have some really great materials. Mostly cool and exotic carbon fibers, but on one of the models, it's got mother of pearl. And to me, that's beautiful. I love mother of pearl, and I think I mean, I say I love it.

Bob DeMarco [00:20:58]:
I'm not I'm not so sure I can live with it, just like I love green sports cars, but I'm not sure I would want one. That mother of pearl looks really beautiful. And to me, it always looks like a, it reminds me of, say, the pistol, some sort of fancy general, like maybe a general Patton would have. I'm not sure if he had mother of pearl, but I think he had some cool pistols he carried on his hips. It reminds me of that, or it reminds me of a classy assassin knife. So we're looking at mother of pearl inlays on this, and there's also a Damascus version. Now this will run you either it it it's a wide range. If you wanna get the WeKnife Silox, you're looking at either starting at $363, kind of a specific price, up to $894.

Bob DeMarco [00:21:49]:
If it were 895, I'd say that's way too much, but they just kinda got it right under my threshold there. So yeah, this this is a, like We Knife Company knives, it's an expensive one and, it can get real expensive if, if that's your gruthers. Okay. Last up in knife life news, I wanna talk about, the re release of the Bedlam, the Benchmade Bedlam, a very, very popular, knife, especially amongst the, Bedlam, especially, amongst the Benchmade lovers, who dig the big tactical folders. Okay. So this one, if you're trying to remember what the Bedlam is like, this is the up swept Persian, blade. A really, really handsome knife and I had one here on loan for a while and it's really cool. Very interesting story behind the original bedlam.

Bob DeMarco [00:22:43]:
They haven't released that. They've released a mini version of it, and I'll get to that in a second. But the original Bedlam had a four inch blade and was an automatic, and it was a commission, a very, very rare thing for Benchmade to take a commission. But this was from the royal family of Jordan. So they're like, sure. We'll take that commission. Four inch blade on the original upswept Jambaia style or, upswept Persian style, knife. Four inches on that upswept blade, automatic on the original, only 20 of them made originally.

Bob DeMarco [00:23:20]:
I think that was twenty ten, before they made a run of them. For the rest of us, hoi polloi. And, I think it's just really cool. It was for the bodyguards of the Jordanian royal family. So that's, I mean, that's kinda cool. But the new one now is 3.45 inches in blade length, s 90 v blade steel, and so you know that that's gonna be much more carryable. 8.63 inches overall when open, and, five ounces, or just under five ounces. So a lot lighter and a lot shorter than the original 10 inch overall, bedlam, which I have no problem with those giant knives, very cool.

Bob DeMarco [00:24:05]:
But that one was, again, I'll use the word girthy, It was a bit girthy, but a very beautiful knife. This new one, again, has the access lock. It's got two very unique g 10 handle styles on offer, or you can go for the, carbon fiber twill handle. That one, that that one's a little bit more expensive. They start at $3.50 and go up from there. So there you have it. These are available now if you're interested. If you're a Benchmade fan and missed out on the Bedlam, I hear you.

Bob DeMarco [00:24:38]:
I hear you calling, and I hear you crying. But you can stop those tears right now by going to Benchmade and buying one of these knives. They're available now. They're so cool. I kinda want a Bedlam, but I I'd rather have a ruckus. If they were to re release another knife, I would say re release the ruckus. That is a cool one. If you're unfamiliar with that, you know I'd never talk, about Benchmade with that sort of starry eyed look.

Bob DeMarco [00:25:07]:
But the the ruckus, I would definitely lay down some cash for. Alright. We're gonna, come up on a on a very quick state of the collection because, after that, we're gonna talk about new and new to me knives. Every once in a while, it ends up being about quarterly. I'll do a sort of roundup of recent acquisitions because, when it rains, it pours and I get, a bunch of great new knives in and I've got, I've got some close-up videos to do but this will tide you over until I do those. But first, I wanna remind you about the store. You can go to nudgejunkie.com and shop there. But also I wanna tell you about our newsletter.

Bob DeMarco [00:25:49]:
The newsletter is something you should really check out because it's my weekly chance to reach out to you in in the written language. And I know that you're just dying to read my writing. But really what it is, it's a it's a way to stay in touch with you guys. It's always a quick, couple of paragraphs about something that's on my mind, having to do with knives, accompanied by a couple of gorgeous pictures, I mean just absolutely beautiful pictures. And, it's a way for me to know who's interested, because if something happened, and all knife content was scrubbed from our usual channels, this would be a way to keep in touch with you, so I could keep gabbing in your ear about knives, even though the channel was pulled down or something like that. So be sure to check us out, knifejunkie.com/newsletter. Sign up, open it up, you don't need to talk to read it, just open it and pretend to read it and then that'll be good for everyone. Do that, the knifejunky.com/newsletter. Okay, coming up, the state of the collection.

Announcer [00:27:16]:
that we're caught up with Knife Life news, let's hear more of the Knife Junkie podcast.

Bob DeMarco [00:27:21]:
I just got a couple of new items from Terry at Off Grid Knives, and I'm really excited about both of them. The bladed version you'll see in in the new and new to me knives re recent acquisitions section. But for this state of the collection, I got one item, and it's a pen. This also comes from OffGrid Knives. This thing is awesome. I it comes in four different versions. This is the stealth gray. It comes in a, a more satin silver.

Bob DeMarco [00:27:54]:
It comes in black, and it comes in an olive drab, anodization. But this is an aluminum tactical pen, deep carry pocket clip, and beautiful micro milling down here, by where you grip the pen. I'm not sure what that's called on a pen. I need to learn pen anatomy, but, this thing is awesome. I've I love pens in general. They don't certainly don't have to be tactical. I have a nice small collection of, fountain pens. I love to write with fountain pens.

Bob DeMarco [00:28:27]:
I used to write letters. I'm old enough, that we didn't write emails. We wrote letters to our girlfriends, during the summer when we couldn't see them or whatever. So I used to do it in fountain pens. I'd get nice paper, the whole nine yards. I hope this letter finds you well, darling. You know, that kinda thing. But here we have a great Bolt pen.

Bob DeMarco [00:28:49]:
This is called the Off Grid Knives Bolt, and it is an extra large tactical pen. By extra large what I mean is it's about the size of a Bic, crystal or, you know, your standard, BIC, pen, but it's a little bit heavier, a little bit thicker. By heavier, it's, like, actually very light because it's aluminum, but I mean heavier duty. And, so it's got this bolt feature much like a, a bolt action rifle. You push it down here, flip it over to the side, and it locks in place with that beautiful mechanism, very nice spring, and out comes the, pen feature. So now, here I'll show you this. The whole pen disappears. So you can use this to exert force on someone or hit someone if you need to.

Bob DeMarco [00:29:40]:
Of course I'm always looking at it in that light, but, when you push it out, there it comes, and the, inside of the, the pen, what do you call that? The writing part. What the hell is that called? The pen filler, the part that writes, it's it's from the Parker Jotter. It's the same it uses the same ink cartridge. That's the word. It uses the same ink cartridge as the Parker Jotter, one of my all time favorite pens. I have Jotters at work. I have Jotters at home. You know them.

Bob DeMarco [00:30:15]:
They're the classic, they've been they've been making them for years. The the classic clicky pen with the with the arrow clip. I think on Thursday night knives, I said it takes the Fisher Space Pen refill. It does not. It takes the, the Parker Jotter style refill. And I love that. They write so well and, they're big too. They take, they have a lot of ink in them.

Bob DeMarco [00:30:39]:
And then on the backside here, look at this. Glass breaker. So that bolt goes in two different directions. When you when you push it down the the main alleyway, it pops out the writing pen. When you pop it up the top, it pops out a little tungsten carbide point. Or breaking your way out of any enclosed glass space. Let's say your car and it's in the river. That's what you got.

Bob DeMarco [00:31:07]:
So very, very cool. I love this. I love special pens. I love tactical pens. I love pens made by knife makers. So, go check out the Bolt from OffGridKnives. It's an affordable, tactical pen, and it writes great, feels great in hand, and they look beautiful. There you go.

Bob DeMarco [00:31:29]:
That's the new Bolt pen from OffGrid Knives. Alright. So let's get to this state of the collection. But before we do, I do wanna remention our our merch page. We've got this, awesome, oh yeah, you can get that pen using our affiliate theknifedunky.com/offgrid. But we have some new t shirts and logo slash hithy maxim, from Jim. I need a knife, stat. That's what we say in the emergency room and, that's what you say, when you buy this stuff.

Bob DeMarco [00:32:04]:
You can get a hat, you can get a, a, fanny pack. I know in England, they don't say fanny. Fanny means something very different in England. But so you can get a fanny pack. You can get a hat. You can get tote bags. You can get aprons, for grilling season, t shirts, whatever you want. Go to the knifejunkie.com/shop and check out the pages of really cool logos and sayings and cool knife related t shirt artwork, that you can get.

Bob DeMarco [00:32:34]:
Thank you, Jim. Alright. So let's get to some of the new stuff I have here. You've seen some of it, some of it you haven't. But I I wanted to to do a roundup of all these amazing things I've been sent, and a couple of things that I've bought. But most of these things have been sent to me, and I'm ever ever so grateful. First one I'm gonna show is I couldn't wait till till the very end to show it. This is my I'm so excited about this.

Bob DeMarco [00:33:02]:
This is from Teakal Knives, and this is a limited edition FMF. The FMF is the Frogman Tactical Field Knife. This is a collaboration with Frogman Tactical, a former Navy Seal who does a lot of cool, who does a lot of security work and teaching people how to defend themselves, that kinda thing, shooting. And this is a knife that he designed based on the mercenary handle. But I'm gonna keep it in the sheath for a second to show you how cool, this sheath is. It is probably the widest sheath coming from from the guys over at well, from Tim at Timpel Knives and and at all. And you can see it's got, it's a pancake style so this can be lashed to your LBG l l what is it? Load bearing equipment. LBE gear.

Bob DeMarco [00:33:55]:
You've got grommets on both sides, slots on both sides, and, unlike the ones that are supposed to fit kind of right along the belt, this is a little bit wider for a lot more applications. A cool thing here is that you can unscrew this, loosen it, slide it up, this little slot, tighten it down, and then that blade is not coming out of the sheet. So, you're gonna do a halo jump or you're going to do some serious activities, and you don't want your knife popping out. That's what you do. You slide this up, tighten it down, and it will stay in that sheath until you unscrew it and slide it back down the slot. I love that feature. I think it's really cool and very thoughtful. And of course, Tim of Timkel of Tekel Knives is a former marine.

Bob DeMarco [00:34:42]:
He's been in the tiant as they say, So he knows he knows that kind of thing. If I were designing the sheath, I wouldn't have thought of that. So, hats off to him and Progman Tactical and all of that. But check this out. You got the mercenary handle. You've got a beautiful Bowie style blade. And this is one of those very limited edition knives that he, just came out with. Why is it limited, you ask? Well, yes, the obvious.

Bob DeMarco [00:35:10]:
Don't tread on me on the show side of the blade, which I love. It's the Gadsden flag snake, and the logo and the, tagline, don't tread on me. You can call it a tagline. It was more like a motto or credo, we'll say. But also the handle, these are very, very special order limp very extremely limited edition g 10 handles. You know that, Tim works with a g 10 maker who makes custom scales for him, and he does, these sort of burl g tens. So instead of having multicolored g 10 where it comes in layers, each layer has all the colors swirled within. So, complicated and expensive process, and here it's red, white, and blue.

Bob DeMarco [00:35:53]:
This is so pic I'm wearing this on the July 4, by the way. I'm carrying this knife, I don't care where I'm going, but this will be on me. So you got the red, white, and blue scales, the don't tread on me, Gadsden snake and motto, and then on this side, we the people. From the very first few words of the Declaration of Independence, We the People, in order to form a more perfect union, etcetera, etcetera. And then you have the Frogman Tactical, logo right there, just east of the made in The USA, inscription there. AEBL, so a great and robust, very tough stainless steel. Stainless or not, it's coated with nickel boron coating and that keeps it stain free and also, by the way, adds a little bit of Rockwell hardness. This is extremely sharp.

Bob DeMarco [00:36:47]:
I mean, as all TKEL knives come, wickedly, wickedly sharp. But I gotta say the blade geometry, on this is pretty exceptional too because it's got a very, due to the width of the blade, it's got a very high flat grind, so it's really thin behind the edge. This thing zips, zips through whatever it's cutting, and so far, my version has only cut paper, but, it's like the paper's not there. Also, with that swedge, it does an amazing back cut, that sort of flick. The weight is just right. This is a great knife for field, and I would dare say for fighting. Heaven forbid you ever have to fight with a knife. So We The People, look at that beautiful, beautiful knife.

Bob DeMarco [00:37:34]:
I am so, I'm so I love this knife and I'm grateful I got my hands on one of these very, very, very limited edition. He made about six or seven of these, with various inscriptions. There was an eagle, globe, and anchor, and Semper Fi one. There was, an American flag one and a couple of others. Can't remember what they were, but they were auctioned off and I got my hands on this one. Thank you, Tim of Tikal knives. If you want to order a Tikal knife, this is the way you should do it, because it helps everyone. Go to the knifejunkie.com/tkell, and if you order it, you get 10% off your blade.

Bob DeMarco [00:38:14]:
I get a little, you know, a little something on the tail end, and Tim makes a sale. TKL knives, a family run business, makes a sale. So this this is one of those affiliate links that truly benefits everyone. It benefits your your wallet. I get a little something, and Tim gets a knife sale. So, there's my hard sell. Buy a knife from TKEL knives because you know you want one. They are awesome.

Bob DeMarco [00:38:39]:
And and go to the knifechunky.com/teakal to do so. Alright. Next up, this one is from Armas Knife and Tool. We had, we had, the man from Armas Knife and Tool, Michael, on the show recently. His name is Michael Grosso. It's not the man. But we talked all about this knife, and I'm still, in the honeymoon phase with this. I carry this a lot.

Bob DeMarco [00:39:08]:
This is the VSK one, the very stabby knife one. A really super ergonomic spear point that's about a four inch spear point blade. Also AEBL. It's a pocket fixed blade knife, truly a pocket fixed blade. I mean, you could carry this in the waistband if you leave enough room in your waistband to carry something, three quarters of an inch thick. Soon, I will be able to carry this in the waistband because I'm on a dedicated weight loss journey, but, went overboard several months ago at Christmastime, and let me just tell you guys, when you get to your early mid fifties, it gets harder to lose weight. So, be careful. So this sheath, I keep showing off the sheath.

Bob DeMarco [00:39:57]:
It's so awesome. This is a, ambidextrous style sheath with the mini grommets and the, integrated DCC clip. Yeah. It looks big, but it fits great in the pocket. I love this as a pocket period fixed blade knife. And, I'm really warming up to the format due to this and another knife you'll see here. It's a little bit different from the pocket carry style of of the, Fisherblades, Beckwith Covert, or the, or the Northman. They have a a a deeper sheath that's a little bit more concealed, and I love those too.

Bob DeMarco [00:40:37]:
Don't get me wrong. And those are also ambidextrous, but this or, well, not the, well, the Northman is ambidextrous, but what I'm trying to get at is, this sits much higher in the pocket. It's a thicker affair. It's much easier to see, whereas the Beckwith Covert is it's by the name, it's Covert. It's an everyday carry defensive blade. So, this is a slightly different format. I'm a big fan of this sort of ambidextrous sheath and, I love this Ermes knife VSK. Checking him out, he's making all of these knives by hand.

Bob DeMarco [00:41:17]:
He gets the water jetted blanks like most makers do. He gets the water jetted blanks, and he does everything else by hand in his shop. And he's been releasing, he being Michael Grosso, has been releasing a lot of really cool process videos. So you can see how these things are being made and, they're they're fun. He's also just a stand up dude. So you see the, you see the AAT company logo right there, very comfortable in hand, and, as the name implies, extremely savvy. I do like also how this ambidextrous sheet has the beautiful, topographic g 10 on the back. I find that, very aesthetically pleasing.

Bob DeMarco [00:42:02]:
Alright. Next up. Now this is from my buddy Doug of Five Door. He is a gentleman junkie and a frequent contributor to, Thursday night knives. This is something he sent to me, from, Texas Blade Show. Blade Blade Show Texas, as I should say. This comes from and by the way, this braided cord is, something my daughter made for me. She does these for $5.

Bob DeMarco [00:42:31]:
Well, I pay her $5 and if you want one from her, you can pay her $5, and no shipping and handling and $5 gets gets you one. Trying to trying to get her set up, you know, slowly but surely for college. I'm just kidding. That's not her college fun, but still, she's good at braiding and I suck. So, anyway, this is a Juros, designed knife, Jesse Juros. This is the seven zero zero one b p. This is a neck knife and, just a beautiful, beautiful little thing. Now, Five Door, Doug sent me this as well.

Bob DeMarco [00:43:07]:
It's a sticker from Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Knowing how much I love Bowie knives, Saint Bowie patron saint of blades. Got that cool Musso style Bowie there. But let's let's look at this. This is super light, man. It's very, very light as you could expect from a skeletonized blade, injection molded sheath, and a beautiful little drop point blade with a swedge. Bob, isn't that a clip point? No. It's not a clip point.

Bob DeMarco [00:43:35]:
It's a drop point. There's no break right here. There's no angle right there. It's a it's a continuous drop. But I do love a drop point with a swedge. This also has a hollow grind, and it's super duper light. And, I just love the Jirose style handle. Someday, I would love to have one of his custom folders, but until I do, I can get Kavar knives designed by, by Jesse.

Bob DeMarco [00:44:02]:
So there you go. Very nice little knife. This one I'm gonna I'm going to put into regular rotation on my little leather braided thing, because this is very very light and very very thin. And that's basically what I require. I have a lot of neck knives that are maybe not as light, not as thin, and I still like to wear them from time to time. But if it's gonna be a regular neck knife carry, it's gotta be light, it's gotta be thin. This one, I was very tempted to wrap with Jute, but I'm a I I'm not a label whore, but I wanna see I do wanna see his, excuse the language. I do wanna see his, maker's mark on the handle.

Bob DeMarco [00:44:44]:
It's a cool maker's mark, and I like knowing it's a Jesse Juros design, so I'm gonna I'm gonna leave that one unwrapped. Alright. Next up, I'm gonna show these probably two at once, but starting with the CIVIVI six gill. Now I showed this, talked about this during, knife life news, and I have one right here in my hot little hands sent to me from Civivi. Thank you so much, Civivi. This will go in a giveaway someday and, that's not because I don't like it but because, I try not to keep too many of these knives that are sent to me. I like to share the wealth. Okay.

Bob DeMarco [00:45:24]:
So this is a gorgeous, full, full bellied reverse tanto, with a great crossbar lock. This crossbar lock is, as usual, just butter. And, that's a Nitro V blade. It's a flat ground blade. CIVIVI does a lot of, hollow grinds. It is a flat ground blade, but man alive is it sharp and slicey. So thin, it zips through paper like it's not even there. So, knowing that they do great heat treats and that it's nitro v, this will zip through pretty much anything you need or want to cut with it because, you know, let's face it, it's, it's a hardened steel.

Bob DeMarco [00:46:06]:
And that's what that's what knives are supposed to do. But look at that in my hand. It looks so nice. I love Michael Gavic's designs, and, this is no exception. It is beautiful. Feels great in the hand. I I I really like the, green forest green micarta with black look. There they have the great deep carry pocket clip that you see across the Civivi and Sencut line.

Bob DeMarco [00:46:32]:
And, this does come in the Damascus and wood version, and, a white g 10, I believe, and some other, some other versions. So, I'm gonna show that with the other knife, it's distant cousin here, we'll call it a second cousin. This comes from Sencut. It's an in house design, and it's a beautiful worn clip. Sencut calls it a a sheep's foot, but, just like I was, picking knits over drop point, clip point, I don't see a break here. So it doesn't it's not really it's a continuous curve from here, so that's more of a wharncliffe. A deeply hollow ground, nine CR 18 MOV, which is a really good steel. I believe it's analogous to four forty C.

Bob DeMarco [00:47:22]:
If you think I'm wrong, you can, you can drop that in the comments below. But you feel it very, very thin, like many sen cuts and many sabibis. I love that. I love that they do the hollow ground blades. I'm not sure if that's a cost saving move or or not, but I really love hollow ground and I love that Sencutt Sabibi does that. So this is a liner lock. G10, it also comes in a wood version, but it doesn't have the fancy steel. They don't really do the, Damascus steels, in Sencutt line.

Bob DeMarco [00:47:59]:
They do that in the Sabibi and of course in the Wii. Again, there's that clip I like, this time uncoated. And, it's not inset in the handle but it's got flat screws so it's, it may as well be. It's very easy on the pockets. Also lots of weight reduction in there and beautiful standoffs. Thank you Civivi Sencut. I will be doing the close-up videos of these this week and you'll get to feast your eyes on these, for a few more minutes than you do here. Next up, I wanna show off the most recent Jack Wolf knife release.

Bob DeMarco [00:48:37]:
I've shown this a couple of times over this past few weeks, but I am, well, one week, but I am over the moon about this one. This is the folding, I'm I'm sorry, the flipping locking version of the Venom Jack. This beautiful trapper style handle with the wharncliffe blade, with the downward descending straight edge. One of my favorite knives from, Jack Wolf Knives. Definitely, probably my favorites. Definitely, probably. My favorite slip joint, but I was always looking forward to him turning Ben Belkin turning that into a slightly larger, locking bolster locking version. So here you have, the diamond back jack.

Bob DeMarco [00:49:22]:
Again, you have that same great blade shape. It's a wharncliffe, but it's not, that straight edge doesn't just come straight off the handle. It descends downward, putting the tip below the handle, really accelerating the the tip cutting uses of this, but also accelerating the shearing, capacity of this as you push it through material, as you slice through material. S90V, blade here is tumble finished and has a full height hollow grind, so again, very thin behind the edge and, has a beautiful cross section there. This one, instead of a nail nick, has a machine ground hole, a short one, that is actually there for middle finger flicking. You can see I left a little bit of fingernail in the, fuller there. You can also put the fat of your thumb in that to open it up. Triple fluted bolsters, dark tumbled, and, double double fluted in the back.

Bob DeMarco [00:50:27]:
I'm particularly fond of this colorway. It's gorgeous. I've said this a million times. I feel like now. But when they do this sort of dark tumble, it looks like an artifact to me. And this one looks like an artifact from World War II. It looks like a piece of, of kit. Similar to, say, this, World War I machete back there, that Collins machete.

Bob DeMarco [00:50:51]:
But you've got the green canvas micarta next to the gray bolsters, dark gray bolsters. It just looks beautiful. So that's the new Diamondback Jack, from Jack Wolf Knives. Next up, this was sent to me from Tom Nugent of Knives by Nuge. You can, check out our second interview. It's up now. This also has the, incredible ambidextrous style sheath. A new feature from Knives by Nooj.

Bob DeMarco [00:51:19]:
He's dialed it in. He got this, information, how to make this, from, Josh of Offensive Industries, a guy I'd love to have on the show here. But this is the primitive wicket XL. And if it looks familiar to you, that's because here is the the wicket, primitive wicket neck knife. And, I've been carrying this one so much since Blade Show last year, that when this came out, Tom sent it over to me and, I was so excited to get it. You've got a full 90 degree spine on this 80 CR V two blade. You've got on this one, on the primitive models, primitive meaning he leaves on the heat treat scale and wraps the handle with this awesome jute cord, my favorite. He puts on the Scandinavian grind, so that zero ground edge there, great for carving, great for all sort of camp tasks.

Bob DeMarco [00:52:20]:
And, his logo is a campfire, so you know that's what it's meant for. But you might like a, G10 handle slabs better. Well, he he, releases the wicket, XL like this and and the primitive, and the small wicket here, with G10, handle slabs and a flat ground blade instead of the Scandi grab. So you you choose your poison. I love this one though. This is my favorite, version of this knife. And this one's been getting a lot of carry. Similar to the Armas knife and tool v s k one, that sheath fits great in the pocket, better than it should, almost.

Bob DeMarco [00:53:03]:
Better than a sheath carry pocket knife should. It just carry Or fixed blade should. Just carries wonderfully. And, this one throws a great spark, as you can see in my close-up video of it. So this is the primitive Wicked XL from Knives by Nooj. Also, if you know, it features that soft side of the, Velcro in there so that it goes in easy, it doesn't, flop around inside, doesn't rattle. Also it protects the knife from the inside, part of the fixture that puts that DSK style clip on the sheath. Right.

Bob DeMarco [00:53:45]:
Oh, luckily it's not China I collect. Put that away. Next up from Gross Motor Gear, I have these two beauties. These are the Mamushi and the Mamushi Mini. Dedicated self defense knives from gone old of Gross Motor Gear. I just interviewed him. You'll be able to see this interview in a couple of weeks here. Really awesome dude and, very interesting guy.

Bob DeMarco [00:54:16]:
Has been, teaching Krav Maga for quite some time and, during the pandemic started making knives. And, we've heard that story before, but during the pandemic, which was such a disaster, good things sprang. Sprung? Good things came from that. And this is one of those things. A a dedicated self defense knife. This is ten eighty four, high carbon blade steel. This is his apocalyptic finish. He's got a couple of different finishes he does.

Bob DeMarco [00:54:49]:
Just straight black coating and also a, satin that looks kinda like the spine here. I like how he satins the spine. Beautiful tsukamaki wrap here with the manuki underneath it, and a, a cord underneath that. He does from time to time use rayskin, I believe. In this case, not. This is the, the mini fits so great in hand, and here's the, here's the regular side. Also fits really great in hand. I have medium sized hands.

Bob DeMarco [00:55:22]:
These both fit me great. So I guess if you have medium sized hands, either one will do you, hold you in good stead. If you have small hands, I'd go for the mini. But, really, really excellent McCall style knife. You do need to watch the interview I did with him. He really gets into how he carries it, draws it, and his philosophy. And I'll give you just a little, teaser. When he talks about tactical knives, he doesn't talk about balance.

Bob DeMarco [00:55:50]:
He talks about leverage. And I've never really thought of it that way. And Man Alive, what he says makes a lot of sense, especially for a small knife or a tight situation. He talks about leverage. So definitely check out my interview with Sean Old of Gross Motor Gear and check out these Mamushis. I'm gonna put this away so I don't cut myself. Next up, great great knife from a great new knife from OffGrid. This is Harry Orufiche's take on an EDC fixed blade knife, and it's based on the off grid backcountry.

Bob DeMarco [00:56:33]:
So I'll put this down just for reference, but here here it is. It's the Sidekick, and I gotta say, I am in love with this knife. Three and a half inches of 14 c 28 n. It's got that beautiful drop point. And this time, he's put jimping on the thumb ramp here and then also on the forward, portion, thumb portion there so you can really dig in with your Filipino grip. It's got outstanding ergonomics with this art handle and, chamfered art handle. It's also got jigging in there just like a, sort of traditional, pocket knife here. Fits the hand so great and, is awesome in reverse grip as well.

Bob DeMarco [00:57:19]:
Here it is in the coyote tan version and here it is in the blackout version. Both just really handsome and beautiful and fit the hand really, really well. I gotta say, he must have actually, I know he worked on this for a long time, because when he was on the show last, he's been on, the interview show a couple of times, he was talking about this and showed it off, and that was almost a year ago at this point. So he spent quite some time working on it. He sent me a card as always, and on it, he's he quotes me, he says, I'd easy I'd EDC the shit out of that knife. That's your quote. I thought that was funny. Please excuse the language.

Bob DeMarco [00:57:56]:
I don't swear much on this show, but, you know, we're mostly adults here. Alright. So, really, really great knife. And and a an excellent feature of this, I'll show you right here, is this tops like swivel clip. So I don't mean to, invoke tops, but it reminds me a little bit of that, where this, swivels around. You can you can turn it in any direction and carry it on your belt in scout style. You can carry it north to south. You can carry it south to north.

Bob DeMarco [00:58:28]:
However you please, you can turn that clip and it works great. Now, I myself like to carry in the waistband, so I'll probably remove this on one of them and put a an in the waistband, soft band on it so I can carry it that way. But that is the OffGrid Knives SideKick. We also, have an affiliate link with OffGrid Knives and have for a long time. If you like the SideKick, it's $57. It's a hell of a deal. You can go to, the knifejunky.com/offgrid and buy it that way. Hope out the show a little bit.

Bob DeMarco [00:59:04]:
Alright. The last clutch of knives, I got a got three here, and I'll I won't spend too much time on them. But these are Cold Steel's. Here is the, Cold Steel Vaquero, Voyager, serrated, in the in the tumbled finish. You know, I have this without the serrations, and I have this in the signature edition with the black blade and the green handle and Lynn Thompson's, kind of, and I'm not dissing him, but he's got like a a second grade teacher cursive, signature. It's beautifully legible. It's beautiful cursive, and, I love it because he's such a he's such a badass, but his signature is so wholesome. I love it.

Bob DeMarco [00:59:49]:
So I got that recently. Been carrying that a lot, and I put a snaggletooth, an aluminum Snaggletooth MF on there for pocket deployment. Next up, I got the the beautiful old new stock, or new, o the old new stock, Black Bear Classic. Love this knife and I got this one. I could've bought it new, but I needed to get it with the leather sheath. This knife deserves the leather sheath, so I got this one recently and have been carrying this as an emotional support knife, a lot. Love this thing. This has a four forty, C stainless steel blade, so a little bit older, made in Taiwan with the micarta handles.

Bob DeMarco [01:00:36]:
They do this knife so beautifully, and I have a feeling the new ones are probably great too. But it they it comes with the, SecurX sheet. I didn't want that for the this knife. The third and last of the Cold Steels and last of my recent acquisitions is a big one. This is the Cold Steel Magnum Tanto 12. This one I've always wanted, I mean, for years and years and years, very similar to, similar to the Black Bear Classic, which is by the way based on the Loveless sub hilt fighter. But this one here is a 12 inch version of the Magnum Tanto, the knife that started it all for me in terms of buying fancy expensive knives. I bought it back in 1988 or something like that, and I quickly became aware that they had bigger versions of it.

Bob DeMarco [01:01:27]:
And this is almost like a wakuzashi with that 12 inch blade. Deeply hollow ground on the main, edge there, and then with that classic, Grivx handle, and aluminum bolster, aluminum, skull crusher, and a guard here. This also has a VG-ten San Mai steel, so a VG-ten at the core. You can see the line delineating where the hardened steel is. And then on top, it's jacketed with a four, four forty series steel. Keep it soft softer on the back to absorb shock and very, very, hard on that sharpened VG 10 blade. Okay. That's all I got for you.

Bob DeMarco [01:02:14]:
New and new to me knives, this, recent acquisition roundup. You've seen some of them, some of them you have not, and, I'm thrilled, to death to have all these knives. Maybe I shouldn't mention death with knives, but I'm very thrilled to have these. Thank you to the people who sent me some of these, and, I'm also grateful to have the means to buy some of these. So, very, very happy with my collection here. Alright. Thanks for joining me. Be sure to join us on Sunday for episode five eighty three with Sean Old, as I mentioned before, of Gross Motor Gear, maker of the Mamushi, a dedicated Pecal style self defense knife, and a bunch of other beautiful ones.

Bob DeMarco [01:02:55]:
I'm really loving his dagger, his new dagger, EDC dagger. Very cool. You don't see too many of those out there. So be sure to check that out. Join us for Thursday night nights tomorrow night if you're watching this the day it drops. Alright. For Jim working his magic behind the switcher, I'm Bob DeMarco saying until next time, don't take dull for an answer.
